@AYA, pls help me with this s55 gprs wahala abeg. I'm missing out on the gprs fun because of this stupid device that has refuced to connect. My laptop doesnt have infrared or serial so i'm stuck with bluetooth and i've tried everything on earth without success.
As per 3G, you can get a Nec E616 or some motorola ones for about 15k, even sonyericsson V600 costs 18k, very good 3G phone I must say.
You will most definitely need to switch your current SIM for a 3G one to use the service. 3G is a different level from edge or basic gprs.

No, no, no...that's a common fallacy. I'm connected to Vodacom's 3G network on my PC via my N70 and I'm using a three year-old 32K simcard. The only thing the 64K(USIM) which you're probably refering to is store more information.
For all the folks in Naija who have been complaining about DStv,

But you are right that a different SIM is not always necessary. Certain networks have been known to require 3G/Universal SIMs in order to be able to use 3G. But there are also others that old 2G SIMs work quite fine on. That's why I carefully used "may" in the post in which I mentioned the subject.
Where the network allows the use of older 2G SIMs, I am told, the SIMs are updated OTA to enable them for 3G services. I haven't confirmed that bit though.

No coola, it isn't an elitist service. You won't realise the benefits or usefulness of a push email service like Blackberry RIM, Visto or Emoze because u use yahoo mail where u can log in and check ur mail from anywhere. For people who work in large corporations like Shell, and the various banks whose email addresses are
like...coolapostle@chevronng.com how do they retrieve their mail when out of the office? thats where push email becomes beneficial.
If Glo or Celtel offers this service, rest assured they already have market for it. Most "Big boys" and all wannabes in the banking industry will want to have one. Not to mention the idumota traders who want to impress their friends.

Not necessarilly. Corporate mail services have their own web-based interfaces from which mail accounts can be accessed. And they always have POP3 and/or IMAP functionality, allowing you to use Outlook or any PC/mobile mail client to get and respond to your mails.
Most of these mail clients have what is called "pull email", meaning they can be configured to automaticlly login to your mailbox at intervals to retrieve new mails and send outgoing.
While PUSH email is great, because you receive your mails in real-time (theoretically), most people do not need it.Except you run a mission-critical service, you are not likely to have real need for split-second access to your mails.
Most times, 5 minutes or so mail retrieval time is more than okay for the rest of the world. Why I would want to pay N10,000 service charge per month for PUSH email is beyond me at the moment. In comparison, Seven AlwaysOn offers PUSH email for N3,000 per month. I used it with my 9500 for close to a year and it works just fine. In addition, you don't need a particular device to enjoy their service. Download the specified application for your smartphone, signup with them, and you are good to go.

N10,000????? Is that the price for the Glo Blackberry service?
@Mamba... how many of the "Big Boys" have even used WAP/MMS? How much more email?
I used my T610 to access my Yahoo.co.uk email account... with a little tweaking, I could use it with ANY POP3 account. So why a Blackberry?
