Well, I read the article; it's not exactly illuminating, is it?

@absinthebri

I'm a Scot and I'm not terribley pro-European, nor am I terribly against it either mind you. I think we are quite fine the way we are, I see no need for Britain to become part of a European superstate; Blighty all the way for me!

The EU can act as a balance to U.S. power if it would simply stop the infighting; I do believe we should work closer with our European partners than with the U.S., but the relationship with the U.S. is still important. The EU already has a larger economy than the U.S. and is seen in a much better light around the world than the US., we should be capitalising on these advantages and offerring a real alternative to U.S. dominance.

I also have nothing against the English, except when we have to hear about that little football trophy they won,

What do you speak about
Mr.Blair resignation or suicidal mood of his kids.
Seems to me he's got 5 children or more.
Think that first who must apologize for Iraq is abush or maybe Bush.Blair is second.

Blair is unlikely to looe the next election, although it is almost certain that his majority will be drastically cut. The real question regarding Blair's future is whether or not he will stand down in favour of Gordon Brown.

@scot,you think Blair will win next election in ur country.I have a question.
Has been a good or bad prime minister for UK.
Think he must be good one when ppl will elect him or his party again.
I am very suprised because no person from uk speaks good way about him. /on esato/

@boto43

Apart from the issue of Iraq the Blair government has been rather popular, winning two huge majorities and presiding over a period of economic growth. The problem is that however unpopular Blair may be at the moment, the opposition parties simply do not have enough support to win the next election; the best result they are likely to get would be a hung parliament. If that happens then the third party, the Liberal Democrats would most likely hold the key to power and they would be able to ally themselves with one of the other main parties to form a government. If the next election actually results in a tie with no way to form a government then I believe that the law states that the Queen must intervene and declare the party most recently in power to have been the victor; that is if another election isn't called.

I say an article in the UK Times on Monday that said that Blair would probably get in again...... but only because basically he's the lesser of two (or three) evils.

Right now, I'm almost tempted to vote for the centre-left Liberal Democrats, who have never been in power, because I can't stand Labour, and although I voted Conservative in the last couple of elections, I'm sick of their bickering and infighting. At the moment their idea of opposition is simply to say the opposite of what the government says, nothing really original.

Or I might just say stuff it and not vote at all! They're all a bunch of muppets.

Hear hear! Labour will probably get in again, but, as you say, only because the other political parties don't have the appeal necessary to attract enough support; there is a consensus that a vote for either the Tories or the Liberals will be wasted.
The Liberals will probably do very well because of Conservative apathy and resentment towards Labour.
