“62. Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.”

Does this not mean as long as we all live good honest life’s and worship our lord were all get a place in heaven/paradise regardless of being Christians, Jews or Sabians (which i think means baptised)?

hhmm... im sensing something wrong here...

"62. Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians"

"Those believe in (in the Quran)" is actually well enough of bein an Islam, but those who "follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians"??? i dont really get this, i think this is false... we dont have to follow it anymore, as the Quran is the only book we should be reading and following. Can anyone confirm this? PeterKay....

& the Quran is finalized by our Prophet Mohammad SAW. Therefore IT should state

'any who believe in Allah and Prophet Mohammad is the last massenger of God and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.'

this sentence is the most important for believing in Islam.....

like we said, it would be great to read the actual Quran text, its been said b4, its always a gd idea to read the Quran with som1 that knows about the Quran.. so if one have questions it can be answered and understood correctly...

This is the Yusuf Ali transalation of the above mentioned verse:

Chapter 2 Verse 62:

Those who believe (in the Quran), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve

yea that i know.. as Jews came, then Christianity and now Islam.. all link to one another from Prophets to Prophets... maybe what they meant is 'acknowledging other religion before Islam during previous Prophets.'

Islam teaches us to believe in all the revealed books/scriptures. A Muslim must believe that it was God Almighty that sent down the Original bible and the Original gospel but the Holy Quran is the final revelation by Almighty Allah.

Chapter 2 Verse 285 states:

The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one of them believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His apostles. "We make no distinction they say between one and another of His apostles." And they say: "We hear, and we obey: We seek Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys."

Amazing words from Almighty Allah, only if we could appreciate it.

Great news. The Yusuf Ali transalation has the words 'thee' and 'ye' but the more you read the transalation the more easier it gets as you may admit later on.

Hopefully after reading the Holy Quran you will see what Islam really teaches and not what the media have labelled Islam as today.

What amazing words, All Praise is due to Allah Almighty.

Verses 28 of Chapter 13 from the Holy Quran states:

"Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah. for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction.

How true are these words. Money cannot give me satisfaction nor any worldly pleasures but when i sit in a mosque and worship/pray to Almighty Allah - my heart feels so much pleasure, peace and satisfaction. It is so difficult to explain what the feeling is really like but trust me it is amazing and peaceful.

Maybe another Muslim brother/Sister here can explain the feeling better?

according to my father who's visiting my new flat, he's said that there are hundreds of religions before Islam, not just Judism, Christianity and Islam.

@amnesia

He would be correct. Buddhism, Taoism, Paganism, Shinto, Hinduism and many others. Actually they all came before Christianity as well.

Judaism and Hinduism are arguably the world's oldest religions, although various forms of paganism could also claim this title.
