I thought Snapdragon's scorpion is a Cortex A8 CPU and yes android supports all ARM platforms that works on WM and WebOS which is simply another linux distro for mobile like android. and WebOS uses 3430 platform - so Android supports Cortex A8 CPUs

Thanks Razec ... I was refering to platforms made by cpu corporations have them for Android. Meaning Android based on Linux, drivers are critical and most drivers CANNOT be simply written without license grants from proprietary ownership. I'm curious as I'm unsure if any chipmaker other than Qualcomm makes chips that are used by Motorola, HTC, Dell, and soon SonyEricsson??

Am I wrong or just misunderstood?

Misunderstood.

It is up to each handset manufacturer to choose the SoC they want and write drivers for it. The chipset manufacturer has basically no role in it, rather than push their wares to the handset manufacturer with claims of how their product is better than the rest.

You don't see anything other than Qualcomm on Android because nobody bothered with the other platforms on it yet.

He may have said release but a lot of people don't understand the difference between announcement and release. I've seen many mistakes between the two on his blog (no offense Maximys, I think it's a language thing).

Yes, I said "release". Maybe on my blog there are many grammatical mistakes, but there are no mistakes between "announce" and "release".

I don't see why a release in Q2 in not reasonable. That's 7 to 10 months away

It's alright I was just checking. It is reasonable, but I have learned from the past to take any word of release with a grain of salt.

If I summarize well:
*X3 announcement in November / release in late January - early February
*other Xperias announcement in MWC / release in Q2

so november is all about kiki and rachael ... hm ... nice
but from a marketing point of view hardly a wise decision
cause these announcements will draw the attention from their new line up(saito,x2...) - after all christmas is the most important sales time in the year

I think it's a great marketing strategy. Although all the 3 flagship models are touch-operated, given their different OS, I think that that would distinguish them enough from each other and would suit different needs and tastes. I see it this way:

Satio - Imaging flagship
Rachel - All-rounder (that is more geared towards the Iphone segment)
Vulcan - Business
