@AYA: Haba AY!!! The way you talk is as if if you pick any Nokia phone it will solve any telephony need you have. You infer that in most of your posts. An SE on Average is better than a Nokia on average. If you have special needs (game play, symbian progs, music, photos etc) then look for the particular phone that gives the best bang for the buck. But chances are it'll be an SE!!!!!
@amby: be careful if you are buying a duo. on my last trip to lag i bought a duo, made the mistake of not testing it till i got to abuja just to see it didnt work. while browsing to see what might be wrong i got to a site that confirmed that it was a fake. it had pixs and discriptions that showed tattletale features of the fakes.

@abu: you apparently got my drift wrong. No; I do not think that a Nokia meets every need. But for the past one and a half years or so, only Nokia has produced phones that meet my needs.
If SE would do a proper QWERTY device, I'd have a go without thinking twice. Unfortunately, as you can see...

Ambyzown's post suggests that he understood my comments better.
More seriously, SE seems to shoot themselves in the foot in a few areas: EDGE and Wi-fi on their phones. These deficiencies were part of the reasons why I chose the E61 over the M600i. And then that wierd keyboard!

So I take it there are hotspots all over the place in Lagos? Correct me if I'm wrong but which network in Naija is EDGE-enabled? Apparently the keyboard is not as difficult to use as it looks...after a couple of days you should get the hang of it. But yes AYA, you have just justified your decision to shell out for the E61 when you won't be using most of the headline features.

No; but there are at least 4 open networks around my office and a few other places I frequent. Which is good enough reason for me to snub the M600i.
Next?

1. None yet. The operative word being "yet". But inside sources have it that EDGE deployment is already on ground. That's not difficult to believe, looking at the general scenario around the world and in your own country. Plus I happen to work in the industry.
Next?

Maybe. But why should I learn to use something different when there is another device with a standard keyboard available? What would this from-outer-space keyboard add to how I work or play? The thrill of using a "unique" keyboard?
And why would I choose this different keyboard when the other device has extra features I need or will need at some point in time?

By now, its obvious that this last statement by you - and indeed your entire post - was made on grounds of presumption, not facts. Which basically makes it of no value.
The E61 has everything the M600i has, plus more. The E61 keyboard is easier to use. The E61 costs less. The E61 is more value for money.
You live in South Africa, but somehow know that I don't use Wi-fi thousands of miles here in Nigeria, and also know that having EDGE on my mobile phone is a useless cause because there is presently no active EDGE network.
That's like telling me 3 years ago that choosing a GPRS phone over a non-GPRS phone was trash. Of course it was trash until Glo launched GPRS and I got on the gravvy train while others went phone shopping.
Come on; you can do better than that

Peace man

@AYA: Granted, you might be the exception...you work in environs with wi-fi, you're hoping that local networks deploy EDGE to justify your decision.
My post is not in defense of the M600, hell I own an N70. You're probably right, if you ask most people, they'll go for the E61 but for the average man (here I venture on assumption) the phone and it's fancy features would be as much use as a sports car on a potholed stretch of road.

You are right. I probably am. I do not know many people around the world (not just in Nigeria alone) who use a mobile the way I do. And I had already taken cognisance of this. When I said Ambyzown's post suggests that he understood my comments better. , I was referring to this:

Again; you are probably right. The average Nigerian (at least) will prefer to spend N70,000 on a dinky fashion phone with zero functionality beyond phone calls and SMS than on a work-horse like the E61.
And none of my posts were aimed at convincing anyone to buy the E61 either. I simply stated that needs, not mere sentiments for SE, may influence a final choice:

In my case, I had a need and no SE meets it at the moment. That remains a valid fact. The next fellow in all probability could not care. Which is his cup of tea anyway; not mine.

@abubakar: I would appreciate you pointing out the instances in which I committed the above crime on this thread.

@Pxt: I presume ur phone came with a 512mb ms duo pro, I could take it off u when u get ur 1gb stick. only thing is where to get the genuine article.
@Abu: testing the MS is the 1st thing I'll do should I buy one from an untrusted source.
