OK, now Sony will kill me. I plan on getting XTZ on the end of August or start of October (when either my mom or me goes to US), and if they show that new tablet and if it is way better than XTZ I will be really pissed...

This would be off topic but...

It just shows how Sony can be merciless once you screwed with them

So Sony has no plans of releasing a Tegra 4 device? I was hoping for a Tegra 4 Walkman...

There will be no Walkman players Only players with headphones like the W series. No successor to Walkman A/S/F/Z

OMG!
So the iconic Walkman is no more (except for a headset) and is now relegated to an App?
Oh how I loved my Walkman handsets!!

Is there going to be an announcement for this? The Walkman as a portable audio device has been around since 1979... I don't get how people can use their phones for music, audio is terrible in comparison and the battery is just to important to use on 2 hours of music each day...

Just read anandtechs review of htc one.
I did some digging, turns out the display is curiously marked as being from JDI (Japan Display Inc) who also was behind the DNA and Butterfly display. In fact there’s even a press release from JDI about a display with those exact same specs (5.0 inch, 1080p, 443 PPI). Of course the One is even higher, 4.7 inch, 468 PPI, no doubt this is a different revision. Interestingly enough I believe Samsung display is also a secondary supplier based on the string I saw dumped.

WTF? How can HTC get better displays than Sony from a company Sony practically owns?!

Interesting. So Sony are planning to do both a 6.44" phablet and a 7" tablet, with the phablet seemingly more powerful than the tablet. That seems odd; it would seem to split their market in that form factor.

Not odd at all. Phablet phones are going to be at or near the top of the pricing scale for mobile devices, likley anywhere between 600 - 1000 dollars depending on various factors. A 7" tablet has to compete with far less expensive devices like the Nexus 7 and iPad Mini, so it makes sense for them to not have it as powerful or premium as the phablet.

It'll be interesting to see how it compares, especially in the area of connectivity, build quality, materials and chipset. Currently, screen size differentiates between phones and tablets to a sufficient extent (when coupled by the absurd "it needs more miniaturisation and therefore is more expensive" sophistry) to render cost comparisons between the two problematic for most consumers.

But if they're looking at devices with (practically) the same screen size then I wonder how many customers will justify the extra cost (looking to be quite a few hundred dollars) for the phablet. I wonder to what extent, therefore, the tablet may cannibalise sales.
