Thats what I mean, until smartphones become as fast as regular phones for day to day things like contacts and messages then I shall not bother, if they can't even do the basics properly then I don't want to know about the rest of it

comparing the k750 to a P1 or a smartphone to a camera-focused phone is like comparing apples to oranges...yes they are both fruits but do they taste the same? no...when you crave a an apple, you eat an apple, if you eat an orange instead it won't satisfy you as much...
that's just that those who need a smartpone use it for the extended features and know u may have to sacrifice certain things untill technology brings everything on the same level and then newer features will always make you have to sacrifice something else...

It's just a crying shame a phone with all those good features is bogged down by being a 'smart' phone. I'm sick and tired of manufacturers pumping all their high end phones with Smartphone OS's. Nokia's N95 would have had far more potentiol, in my eyes, for me to use, and Joe Public too, if it had been S40.

I was wondering about the media player. Does the mp3 player recognize id tags (ie album song order).

Does the P1 look like normal phone in size or still bricky?

@Daedalus
It might be that having all the N95 function on a S40 wouldn't be possible
@EMSH
The P1 is far from being bricky (that's my opinion). It fits easily in a pocket.
here is a bad pic for comparison
and another one

I know what I'm missing, and it's nothing I'd use. I'd rather have a phone that is practical to use on a day to day basis for things I use all the time than sacrifice that for the sake of some features I'll use occasionally.
And I see no reason why S40 can't cope with it. It is, after all, a simplified, faster, more stable version of S60 at the moment anyway.

I went from an S40 device that I really liked, to an SE K750i, which I hated because of the initial bugs were awful, to an S60v3 (N80) device. Now I have the P1i.
I certainly wouldn't go back to a normal phone that's for sure. What I lose in it taking an extra second to make a call I have gained in software on my phone. One week into P1i ownership and I can honestly say it's up there with the best phones I've ever used, including the N95. I must say at this point that I tend not to use the camera on any phone as I have a digital SLR for taking photos, so it's the phone and associated features that are key for me.
Smartphone all the way for me. It is about choice though. If you don't require the features of a smartphone then there really is no need to get one. Even if the P1i was really fast at all the things you need what would be the point in getting one.
