@erickson813 try loading "ADW Launcher" from the market. If I remember correctly this is has more home screens. Other launchers may also be worth a look.

Has anyone had any problems using their X10 as a satnav with Google Maps Navigation?

I've tried twice so far, both times on a 3 hour journey with it plugged into an in-car charger. Both times everything has started out ok - the phone appeared to be charging and Google Navigation was working well. But during both journeys, the phone got quite hot, the battery went from approx. 90% charge down to 0% and the phone restarted itself (not necessarily in that order). I'm not sure how long it all stayed working for before it restarted as I wasn't paying much attention, but it was less than 2 hours.

The in-car charger works fine when used normally with the phone in standby, so I'm not convinced its a problem with that. I haven't tried using navigation without the charger yet, but will do at some point to see what happens.

I have read reports somewhere that some smartphones can't charge fast enough while they're being used, but I'm not sure if this is true.

Any thoughts?

@t0m
I'm quite unfamiliar with the charger problem that you have as I've tried using google maps while charging without a hiccup, and the battery level either sustained or was slowly increasing but then again I haven't been using them together for such an extended period of time so I can't say for sure. But then again AFAIK SE car chargers have always been more like a rapid charger and I wish the same technology could be applied on our normal chargers, so it's unlikely that the power input can't sustain the power output.

I'm thinking of getting a x10 this week, does that mean I can upgrade it to 2.1 when it comes out? If so, can you teach a newbie how?

@kckqoo

Welcome to this fine forum! You will certainly be able to upgrade to the new firmware when it is released for whichever carrier/region you purchase. The UK and Spanish release is said to start week after next and some more remote and other language regions will probably be over the following weeks so get antsy if you don't get your upgrade at 8AM Monday 20th. When it arrives in the end could be anyone's guess.

To upgrade to 2.1 yo can either do it on the phone through settings -> about phone -> software update or by connecting your phone to your PC and using the 'Sony Ericsson Update Service' (SEUS as it's known to the hardcore SE geeks and freaks). There is also the 'PC Companion' software which comes with the phone but basically that is SEUS accessed in a slightly different way.
