Well, first impression on 2.1 from the video is rather disappointing. And yes, the horizontal slider and the bottom bar do not look appealing!
Despite taking donkey's years to release 2.1, Timescape & Mediascape do not seem to have made improvements as pointed out which some have claimed to be the reason behind the lengthy wait due to the difficult integration with 2.1.
But it's hard to tell from the video so I'll wait for the final release to see if SE have ironed out most, if not all, the major issues reported. If not, SE is not really doing themselves a favour.

I bought a reconditioned white X10 but the screen was covered in mini scratches so I took the factory screen protector off and it looks much, much better without it - much easier to clean too.
Oh, my notification bar came back with reboot so all's good.

Hi all,
Does anyone know if the 2.1 update will bring DLNA to the X10? I had hoped this came with the original firmware as thats what SE said on their website originally.
I'm actually starting to really dislike that slider bar to unlock the phone...I think it looks crap compared to the arc lockscreen.

I was under the impression that HD recording will come with this update and DLNA certification will come in the update after that - correct me if I'm wrong.

I think 2.1 will make or break this phone.
The slider change is a disappointment. The videos also show that worryingly, there seems to be a bit of lag and slowdown - I hope this is ironed out before the release.
That said after all the fuss SE made about it taking ages due to Timescape/Mediascape integration, it doesn't seem to be massive improvement.
SE should leave the skinning to HTC, Sense is just awesome and SE's version just pales in comparison.

@goldenface
DLNA and
HD 720p are in this update according to when they
announced the update.
From watching the videos we've seen, I was hoping for a more user rich experience, but I want to reserve my final judgement till I have the update in my hands and I've customised it to my own usage requirements.

Found following picture at Mobile Review forum.
Free translation.
X10 2.1
-------
Video recording in HD
Video recording with continuous AF.
Social Phonebook (syncs FB and Twitter contacts with pictures).
Something about restructured menus or menu guides (not sure what they mean).
5 home screens instead of 3.
HTML5 support for better browser experience.
X10 2.1x
----------
Looks like a second update with focus on Timescape, Mediascape and support for additional languages.

We are of course very glad to offer this upgrade earlier than originally planned. Xperia™ X10’s position will also be further strengthened through the addition of HD video recording as part of the same Q3 upgrade.
A further upgrade to the Xperia™ X10 in Q4 will make it possible to connect and display wirelessly content on your television and enhance the Timescape™ and Mediascape applications.
