In theory your Firewire transfer should be faster than that... not sure why its not.

The Keychain password is a 'master' password which allows applications access to other passwords stored in your Mac's Keychain. i.e. web-site passwords etc.

Basically it means you only have to remember one password instead of hundreds, and the browser will auto-fill the proper password for a site.

Instead of cancelling it, just enter your password when asked, then you won't have to do it again.

If you load the "Keychain Access" program you can change the delay before your Keychain is 'locked' and you are asked for its password again. Its a security feature.

Jools, im after a mac on a limited 14 year olds budget. Been looking at iBooks but they have a 1.33Ghz processor which must be slower than my old Win2k Machine with its P4 processor musn't it?

Are they anygood now? I dont really need a large HDD, and only use my PC for msn, internet and music.

WHat you thinking?

1.33Ghz is becoming a little slow now, but it depends what you want to do with it. My current Mac is only 1.25Ghz PowerPC CPU and I use it everyday for web browsing, email, making web-sites and a bit of video editing. It's good for that, if not blindingly fast.

iBooks still run on the older PowerPC processors, so you'll never get the performance of the newer Intel-based Macs.

What's your budget?

Have you looked at the Mac mini?
If you've already got a monitor and USB keyboard & mouse you can get one brand new for less than £400 (cheaper if you buy from the online AppleStore and use a discount voucher). They currently start with a 1.66Ghz Intel Core Duo processor.

As a student you can also get Student Discount:

You havent got your router configured properly. It has never dropped for me in the 2 to 3 years I have been using it. I am quite shocked by that. I think you need to open up the ports on your router.
