SE is so full of themselves. Look at them, taking too long at releasing an update that is already outdated before it comes out while having not a hint of embarassment but making a hype of it and coining "something smarter is coming" when they should just quietly and quickly release it and concentrate on 2.2. And the update, after such shameless campaign, offers only little more than what we have now. It's really twisted that they still think they're on top of the game but are actually clueless as to what their customers want and the amount of competition they have to deal with out there. Well, I've been with SE far too long to have hoped for a 2.2 update anyway, if anything I've learnt that with SE, hope ends up with disappointment. They will never do what they never mention to do and give you anything extra than what they tell you. Maybe X10 is a good platform for me to jump ship to HTC after staying too long with Ericsson/SE. Yes, I'm sure it is.

The HTC Desire HD is supposed to be announced on 15th September, this is the device I think we both are looking for. It's not even out yet and its already said to be having Android 2.2 on launch and getting Android 3.0 Ginger bread. Sony Ericsson is just rubbish these days I entirely agree.
Yeah and HTC Desire has already Android 2.2.
X10 doesn't even have 2.1. And rumours say 2.1 will be the last step.
To be honest they have a disgusting strategy. Completely not towards consumers.

I saw on the Swedish website
www.mobil.se that a photo was taken of a document from SE saying that 2.1 was the last update on Android and that X10 didn't have the hardware to handle 2.2.
Sucks!

Not sure if it's been posted before but I'm number 13,967 who signed the petition demanding FroYo to be included in the X10 android map. If you haven't performed this collective obligation, you can do so
here
i have forgotten my number as i signed since 2 months or more, and NO OFFENSE to anyone here but i cannot picture that SE guys are searching or reading any petition. as if they do, they have probably fixed the in call volume problem as we are whining about it since forever.

It would be realy disappointing if SE dont update this to 2.2, i find it hard to believe that the hardware doesnt support 2.2, even the Milestone is getting 2.2 and that has less RAM, less ROM AND a slower CPU, so wtf??? they should just tell the truth, they are simply too under resourced to work on 2.2, the UXP UI also seems to require a lot of time to port, they have taken a bigger bite than they can chew, and are now choking. Im very happy with my X10, no doubt, but the fact that they cant keep it up to par with its competitors that arrived later realy is discouraging in the long run.

Lets hope for SE to change his mind and update to 2.2, X10 hardware should not be an issue....

I get the feeling they're too underesourced as the X10 is surely capable of handling 2.2.

SE have probably realised the sale of X10 has reached its peak, so there is no point in spending any unnecessary time upgrading any further and might as well consign this just another one of their under-performed products to history as the numbers just don't stack up
So much of customer support from SE. You've done it again SE!! Thanks!

Indeed Goldenface,it seems so,i guess its upto the XDA Dev. community, who last i checked are close to cracking that bootloader, once they do that im simply going to wait for a vanilla Foyo2.2 ROM for X10.
Elad
AFAIK, its the exact opposite, the X10 and its siblings have been a great success to SE, they are one of the main reasons they reported a profit last Q.
