Satellite TV programmes ... on your mobile
By ZAM KARIM
KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Communications Bhd has launched its Video Live service which allows its subscribers to watch current news or cool music video-clips on their mobile phones.
The company has signed a deal with Astro provider Measat Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd that allows it to broadcast streaming videos of the satellite TV's CNBC and hitz.tv channels in real time to mobile phones.
"Our postpaid and prepaid customers will now be able to enjoy regional news and the latest music hits 'live' at any time and anywhere, from their mobile phones," Maxis chief operating officer Edward Ying said at the launch here earlier today.
"It's all about true convenience and accessibility," he added.
Maxis users can also check out prerecorded clips of programme highlights from channels such as AXN, National Geographic, AEC, and Astro hit shows like Akademi Fantasia; music videos from the Beatles, Chemical Brothers and Coldplay; and trailers of movies like Trauma and Gothika.
"These two channels and pre-recorded clips and trailers are only the beginning of this new innovative service. We are also working to obtains rights to other content such as live telecasts of sporting events like the upcoming Euro 2004 tournament, and many more," said Ying.
To access this new service, customers must own a mobile phone that supports video-streaming. So far, the service is only available on the Nokia 3650, 3660, 6600, 7650 and N-Gage, and Sony Ericsson P800 and P900 mobile phones.
Maxis customers will enjoy unlimited viewing of Maxis Video Live content for just RM10 a month, until Feb 29.
After this promotional period, customers will be charged according to the amount of data they download, at fees to be announced later, said Ying.

ho'la sen'ors.... been snooping round the msg board for a while, just thinking of what to say.....
good to see that theres a lot of SE fanboys here

, anyway, i guess its finally time to get a p900, as my p800 is almost 12 months old and my friend is begging me to sell it to him for RM1350 w/o the memory card (what choice do i have... i've already lost more than 1k...bahhh...it's part of the normal tech syndrome). anyway.... i was scouting around at sg wang, but my buddys' shop is already closed for CNY (the only retailer i can get a p900 for RM2999), so i rushed to sony wing and dammmmmmmnnn...they were already closed, they'll only open up on sunday.
(u guys should check out the new "yours to create" theme on one side of sony wings' display....finally, some recognition)
anyway, anywhere else i can get a malaysia SE warrantied p900 at RRP RM2999 or less(i heard they were selling it at RM2750 at ericserve, but limited stock....donno whether its true or not tho...) in the next few days? i dono if ericserve's gonna be open this saturday.
honestly, i had some VERY sad incidents for the last few days, so i'm switching A.S.A.P to get a "upgraded" new toy to get my mind off it for a while.... well, big boys with their toys....
appreciate the info.....TQ in advance

Guys! I'm planning to sell my original 1 month old T610 (blue) to buy the new T630 (black). Is it already available at Ericserve or any SonyEricsson retailers? How much does it costs? It is a good move to sell it to my friend @ RM900? Should I wait n save for P900?
