How much is the budget? Go for split if poss, and a remote will come in handy, you can change the settings, on/off lying in bed. Good when you want to turn off a/c in the middle of the night.

1ton? Dunno about EER, what is it? Rotary compressors run smoother and quieter than reciprocating compressors, also has lower power consumption.
