given the slick face that we've seen so far having the mirror effect, it would be very backwards for SE to put in a dull interface. I'm sure SE is very well aware of this too.
I'm hoping to be blown away by the interface in addition to the spec sheet. But, i'd settle for something that i could customize to be incredible as long as out of the box it doesn't look like it's from the 90s.
EDIT: just to add to what others have said. Yes, people want something easy, fun and flashy to use. Why? because it's cool and that's how society is. If people were not impressed and attracted to flashy styles, there would be no trends of any sort and we'd all be living a very dull life. Features alone do not sell a product, at least to the general consumer. We've seen it time and time again. Unix and Linux are superior operating systems, yet the average consumer given the choice would choose windows over it. Not until Apple gave Unix a makeover has it made it's way into the mainstream. The same can be said for phones. Paris is a flagship phone. THE #1 phone in SE's portfolio. It should show everything that SE is capable of and it should show it with as much flash and fanfare as possible. SE's japanese half has learned this lesson too many times. Specs alone do not sell. (betamax, memory sticks, a-trac(i think that's what it is)). It is marketing, flashy features in combination with specs that sells. I fully believe and have faith that SE has learned it's lesson over the past few years since p990. I think with Paris, it will shine.

That's obvious for me that modern device, whether it's business or media, should have a f..n decent look and feel. Like any other new product.
That's why business Vista or Mac OS does looks better and better, otherwise Windows would stay with Win98 look etc...

There's absolutely no need to piss and moan all the time.
Noone knows for sure how the final version of the used UIQ will look like.
I don't think that the UI will be boring

UI aside, for now, until we actually see it. Im actually starting to look forward to rocker keys. I think Bider did a fantastic job photoshopping this, but I personally dont like the black and white keys. I was hoping for it to all be black, and I really hope Mizzle mistook 'glossy black' for 'white and black'.
m-one: what do you think the probability is that there will be flash support for Paris (sooner or later)?

Let me ask you this then... Is a nice user interface needed? Nope. That's why it's not there.
Here it comes..............DUH!
It is near to obligatory for the user interface to be intuitive and good looking (with smooth transitions and animations ala iPhone). It's a flagship for crying out loud! AND as far as I know, its 2008!
I am telling you if they put in some crap UI, ths phone will SUCK (and I mean it).

I think that we shouldn't expect much changes regarding the design of the UI. Layout will probably be similar to existing UI(Q 3) + some effects ( hopefuly processor will be fast enough to support them ) + different Standby and Today screens ( or their mix ) + redesigned icons and that is about it. Just hoping that the default themes will be designed little beter than those on existing devices, that the phone would feel "snapier" and that menus and access to certain menus is redesigned with using more brain power than before :-)

I just feel the emelie d pad is going to be another functionality disaster
look great doesn't mean function nice.....maybe just me but after k850 experience...really don't feel SE knows how to get it right on good d pad when they try to break the mold.

i think from all the posts till now...we can tell people do feel nice interface is needed....thats the reason i am such a huge

fan....their UIs have been pretty damn nice so far...
..altho i hope they don jus stick to the same old ones forever...they need to bring some new innovations into it...and i dont mean just flashy animations but in terms of usability!!!! that is actually very important...like little things in the iphone..such as 2 finger zooming...sure zooming has been around for ages...but their approach to it...made it so much easier...and i feel

need to be implementing such ideas to make their interface as easy to use as possible!!!
