well, I guess you'd still have to fiddle in your pocket to find your phone... unless you're like me where it rarely leaves my hand

Lads and ladettes, a bit of a heads up here;
I had a bit of something stuck between the casing and antenna - nothing major, just a bit of fluff. As it was right in the gap I tried to use the tip of my nail to softly edge it out. But to my shock I seemed somehow to scrape off a bit of the coating from the antenna and now have a small black mark there

And I was being VERY VERY careful as its my new toy

Yup, I did try blowing it out first

But that didn't suffice nor did rubbing the tip of my skinny finger along the edge I had no choice but to gently use my not so long nor sharp finger nail
The thing is falling apart and I've only had it a day and half

PS Masseur, heard any rumours about a Jailbreak? I NEED Lockscreen.
I've searched the App Store for a Lockscreen App but that t0$$er BJ - I mean SJ - doesn't seem to allow any to squeeze through!

@scouser...
comex and planetbeing are workin on the Jailbreak... they have one ready but have to remove all the apple software in it before they can release so that Apple cant get it removed off any websites once released.
I reckon it will prob be out in next couple of weeks now that apple released 4.0.1 lol.

I cannot believe how totally amused i am by this whole antennagate debacle. As much as i like the iPhone 4 for its usual innovations and fun to use interface, the fact Apple are now trying to downplay their own screw up by insulting other manufacturers is completely unprofessional and almost childish.
They just seem to be digging a deeper whole for themselves as each day passes.
Why dont they just dig deep into their pockets, give the iPhone 4 a proper antenna, recall all the current phones and replace them with fixed versions. It might cost them billions, but its their own fault and should live by it.
As always however, from my own personal standpoint, this isnt something which would stop me buying an iPhone 4, its complete lack of features i NEED on a day to day basis prevents me from buying one.

what features?
been using mine for a couple of weeks now, have to say i used a 3GS on saturday (which i thought was the best phone ive ever owned) and i definitely wouldn't want to go back. Also felt cheap and poorly made in comparison to my iP4.

@etaab i also would like to know what 'Features' you would 'Need' to have and use everyday that arent on the iPhone 4?
I agree that whats happened with the antenna is poor but at least Apple are doing something to remedy it and have provided lots of supporting evidence to prove other phones do it as well.
If apple had included a sticker on the phone like Nokia do with their phones would all of this happened?

All sorts. Mainly the lack of a proper multitasking OS and terrible Bluetooth support. The camera isnt up to my standards either. Since buying a Satio last year i dont think id want to step down to a lower megapixel count and lack of Xenon flash. I also make quite a few video calls each week - again the iPhone 4 falls flat here with only wifi video calling to other iPhones.
As sophisticated as the iPhone is, its still pretty basic in its functioning (IMO).
Put this latest antenna issue with the features the iPhone 4 lacks, amongst other issues i have with it, all make me think Apple are becoming the kings of bad ideas.
I love the new screen on the iPhone 4 however, no matter how much i squint, i cannot even see individual pixels.

But they aren't. Otherwise we'd see a mass recall and a new version released with the antenna more logically placed. What sticker would that be then ? im not sure what you mean. I agree however, Apple are right, other phones do suffer from the same problem, its the laws of physics - its not something only Apple have discovered though. They are just trying to take the heat off themselves by looking at other manufacturers but its pointless. Where Apple have fell on their faces is down to poor design. Other manufacturers have thought of similar antenna designs as Apple but not used it after realising its more vulnerable to this type of issue. Maybe we could put this whole mess down to Apple's inexperience in developing mobile phones ?
Its pretty obvious to anyone to put the antenna high up on the phones casing to improve reception, not bury it in the palm of the users hand !
