Hi all.
I have lots of questions.
I'm in india. I have vodafone branded k700i (got it frm my cousing in UK). It's unlocked & works fine except can't set mp3 or wave file as ringtone (& some other things). So today, i handed over the phone to SE service center. They said they can't write SE indian SW on it but will be able to upgrade the vodafone f/w. will this work & is it true that they can't overwrite the vodafone f/w with original SE f/w? and would it lock my phone again? (service ppl say it won't but if it does they won't unlock it).
Also what is drs-11 cable? can it be used for flashing phone? what is its advantage over DCU-11 cable?
And finally, can the camera focus be adjusted? the pictures i took don't have sharp outline & close-ups of small things are unrecognisable.
can neone help me????

The first post in this thread should provide the information you need. As you can see R2V001 (the firmware after yours) is the first vodaphone firmware that allows you to use MP3s as ringtones. You will need to use the DRM packager with this firmware though - but that's not too much of a problem.
In other words, take your phone to the SE Service Centre and get the latest UK firmware put on it, download Sony Ericsson's DRM Packager Tool, apply DRM to your MP3s and then copy them onto the phone. You should then find that you can use MP3s as ringtones.
As for the camera, the K700 has a fixed focus camera, so it will always be blury with close shots.

I am having really disappointing experiance with SE service in mumbai.
Instead of upgrading my fone's f/w, they have downgraded it so that the camera sw is 3.6 instead of 3.9 & all icons look really bad. They r saying since it is not under warranty i'll have to accept as it is. Though they say they will try once more 8-|, i think this is gonna cost me money & headache

There has never been any K700/K500 firmware with camera version 3.6. Have you checked the firmware information yourself? As always, look at the first post to find out what you have got.
