Maybe you have some software running (that you're not aware of) that requires constant data connection?
What's the point of disconnecting anyways ?

Nope. I haven't really downloaded anything on it except for Xpera tweak and Sling Media's Sling Player, which I just found out doesn't work on the phone to begin with...
Also, when I check the open apps using the application manger in the corner nothing is open, except for active sync sometimes which I always promptly close.
edit: I thought the point would be obvious? The point of disconnecting your data connection is so that it doesn't kill your battery, imagine if I actually had a working 3G network connected and running on my phone instead of JUST edge?!? Would you want that thing connected and on 24/7 with your X1? Are you currently on AT&T with your X1 using it all of the time? You know they have soft caps right, and will throttle your data speeds down to GPRS speeds if you exceed their soft cap limits?... Not to mention Your battery would be dead by mid day (I think I read you get about 6 hours of service from the phone using 3G)! Also, I don't want to excessively use my mobile internet causing Tmob to become suspicious of me... That's it in a nutshell, plus like I previously stated all of my other phones have terminated their data connection after using it for a program or application, including BOTH all of the smart AND dumb phones that I've ever owned.

But doesn't it seem LOGICAL that if you EXIT the panel, apps are closed??
In reverse - starting apps from the menu gives multitasking.
Isn't it needed??
THANK YOU!
Finally someone understands. Lol basically whenever the device does something the user doesnt want it to do, someone somewhere will call it a bug, and later that same someone somewhere will probably post about it here. I find more reason in it since I have some programming experience. However, if the reverse were to be true, how many people would be on here complaining that they cant stop the friggin panels, saying that they are trying to take over their lives! You just can't please everyone. So better that it is kept simple and functional. WMP is always there for those who want a constant supply of music (and although its not as slick as the SE Media Panel, it isnt half bad and certainly gets the job done
).

hi
about the remaining connection problem, download "shap's advanced config" program (google it), there's the option to disconnect after a time you decide.
it works on my diamond

I think you're totally missing the whole point I'm trying to make here. I know WMP player is functional and works on a basic level, but I didn't buy this phone so I COULD use WMP with it on my X1. If I did that, then why not just buy a HTC or Samsung Pocket PC instead? I bought the X1 so I could use SE's media panel to play music... Let me give you an analogy, so maybe you can better understand my POV. Say you have both a moped and giant roomy SUV with a ton of cabin space and amenities built in like climate control and stuff. Just because you can drive the moped across country doesn't nean you should, or even be forced to when you have a more comfortably and ergonomically designed option at your disposal... Have you even tried to use WMP on the X1? It's clunky and cumbersome to say the least. It's also not very finger friendly, plus why do I want to dive 3 or 4 levels deep into a archaic sub-menu system to access a media player when one (which, might I add is featured as a selling point) is easily available and accessible on the home widget page of the phone?
I totally understand that the panels should close when you press the panel button btw (as evidenced by one of my previous post), however by the same token there is no way to MINIMIZE ANY of the panels while keeping them actively playing in the background (like I could with say my Nokia N95 or SE W850), which IMHO defeats the purpose of having a multimedia smartphone to begin with!
Some people I tell you...

Hey, thanks thanks for that. I actually tried to download this a while ago because I found that Xperia tweak didn't actually change my default browser choice after I changed it to Opera anyways... I actually downloaded the CAB and the required software needed to run it, however every time I tried to open it would tell me that the the frame net software something something that I have isn't up to date (which is the required software that I downloaded from their provided link before I started the actual software download!)... I've now uninstalled it and re-installed it about 2 times with the same results each time. Thanks anyways.

You need to have the 3.5 NetFramework installed first to be able to run the other,i thought this was made clear in the instructions for apps that need it. First download the 3.5 Netframwork and run it then turn off and back on your X1 before installing the other program. I think that should solve the problem you are having but check XDA first as this just what i seem to remember being who it's done.

Hey thanks, that's actually more clear than what I saw on the julien schapman download page for the app. I actually found the app on a Google search, and not through a XDA forum. I downloaded the NetFrameWork app that it recommends and links, and then promptly installed the other software which may have been my problem to begin with, which wasn't too clear in the instructions. I also actually looked for that software in the application folder of my phone after installing it but never saw it either... Hmmm, I'll try it again using your instructions now. Though tbh I did install the Advanced Task Manager offered on the same site, and did exactly what I did above for that app and it's accompanying required software with no trouble at all.... Whatever the case thanks Marc.
