Right now I'm conecting to the net using my N70 as a modem and to be honest it's pretty straight-forward.
@Rhino: I can't believe those bloodsuckers are blaming you for the demise of free GPRS on Vlive.

@Rhino: How fast your Virgin Mobile connection? I'm getting 4,5kbps at best and seemingly I can't use 3G which simply refuses to connect when the phone is placed in "Dual Mode". I'm also getting constant disconnect errors which means I've got to "refresh" the connection in the "One Touch Access" pane.
Any tips and tricks are welcome.

Being worshipped by the guys at prodigits is like being a special olympics champ...
My connection with my phone was as straight forward as it can get... Okay, maybe not, my irq settings gave me crap. Got it working eventually. I get about 40-70 kbps speed, nice and fast by crap south african standards:)

@francois: Are you connecting via 3G?
EDIT: It seems I'll have to retract that earlier statement of not being able to connect to the 3G network...I'm currently connected and it sure as hell is fast...Will take a speed test later but this one's good.

@ brix, yes, 3 is the g i connect on. Gprs would never reach those speeds in my wildest dreams, which was the female dog with my previous phone, the big reason i never really used the net on my phone then, or at least, not much. I did a lot of stuff on the net with it, but couldn't do nearly as much with my 6220 as with my w900i now. Gprs was not just slow, it was suing the powers that be for the title of tortoise, which at that stage was allocated to these creatures with shells and who moved really slow...never kept up with the case so do not know what happened with that..
Enough of this silliness, and onto other silliness-cultural this time. I am trying to overcome the cultural demon of calling older people oom and tannie. It is ingrained into the culture that it is an address of respect, but i realised adults hate it. It is not a problem i have with english people, them i address as i should. It is just my afrikaans friends's parents and aunts and uncles:) lol! Sleep well chaps- off to bed.

@brix, i use GPRS which mostly have a 6-8KBS connection on virgin, which is to me waayyyy more than enough for the amount of surfing i do.
Unless we get better priced data, i will stick with slower gprs speeds, rather that being surprised with my airtime running oout faster due to a faster connection.
I will however have to wait and see if and when voda launches pre paid data bundles (which has been in testing for the last 2 weeks) to see what their rates is, but i doubt them beating virgin on price.

The overall experience was quite good, so good that I'm considering subscribing to one of Vodacom's data plans. I'm also toying with the idea of connecting via wi-fi, checked on the net and there don't seem to be any wi-fi networks in my area (Green Point). In October I'll hopefully be moving to the Cape Town city centre and hope to pick up more wi-fi networks there. Or I might skip all that and see what WiMax has to offer.
