@ BRIX
You are now speaking mario`s language re wifi/wimax.
I would not subscribe to vodacoms data bundles just yet (not on a fixed basis that is) I am waiting to see what the imact of the sno will be in dataq prices, the way i see it, with them supplying wholesale could make for some changes, and then again, they also have to go through telkom 4 the time being so i wonder if it will really have an effect.

I must try virgin. I've been thinking but never get to do it.
I must get myself a 3G fone. GRPS always do Avg 3KB when I'm browsing. I can't even check out porn in the net with that speed.

Yeah i been using my phone to connect my pc up for a while now but only for basic things like checking email coz dam networks taking forever to roll out 3g in my area!Which is quite shocking as most teens in my area wouldn't use anything less than say a 6230i in our relatively upper bracket area. But the connection so much quicker and easier to setup instead of connecting to telcom...(usb that is)

I want to be the first to officially welcome Neotel, our second national operator....
http://www.neotel.co.za
Guys, I really hope this helps turn around our country...Telkom has killed big business here, so this could help boost foreign investment....What do you think?
Snippet from the website:
The initial wholesale international voice and data services offered by Neotel to other telecom players will gradually be augmented by national telecom services for wholesale and enterprise customers by the end of 2006, with consumer services targeted for introduction towards the end of the first quarter of 2007.
This is what I was hoping for...i am getting excited...=)

@francois: I won't get my hopes up too fast on 4G technology making it here anytime soon. Just reading between the lines it's probably going to be some proprietary technology which only Samsung and few others would be willing to use.
I'm excited about news of Neotel's immiment launch...hope they're better then Hellkom. Thinking of which, why can't they make local calls free after 8pm for a flat monthly fee...now that would be nice.

Jip, but as the article says, 2010 will be around about deployment, so yeah...
Local free calls? It is like throwing water on a witch, telkom being the witch...In the US local calls was free, so yeah, it is screwed up here...
With Neotel, I count on the biggest effect 4-6 months into 2007...should be good...

@ TeenInvader,
Don't you mean the D830, D840 or D870? Dunno about a D850 yet...can be confusing with all these Samsung model references...
