Hmm - although if they're saying R1DA is the latest version that would at least fit with what Carphone Warehouse were saying to me. Is it an unbranded phone you have?
Sorry for the late reply, I had no time to check out the forum until now. The answer is yes, unbranded (Hong Kong).
Something went terribly wrong at SE. They screwed up the last two FW versions, realized it too late and they are now afraid to admit it. Perfectly understandable, admitting such a thing would be a huge step backward and would damage their image and sales. It's a lot easier to deny.
Anyway, lesson learned. Next time I'll crave for a SE mobile phone I shall eat my fingernails reading the forums for a year, waiting for the software to be bug free and for the price to drop to half its original figure. Amen.

Some people were mocking us because we were warning everybody who wanted to upgrade to new FW that they were taking risks of BROD...

Also i think that it's absolutely ridiculous that us SE users have to pay a 3rd party company (e.g. davinciteam) to fix the problem.. when SE should just release it's own flashing-program that allows us do re-flash like davinci, FOR FREE!
It's THEIR fault the LEAST they could do is offer a free solution.
I'd almost think davinciteam is a company created by some of the SE fw programmers, so they can privately make some more money........

Tomorrow my phone will have one month since the purchase date. During this period I have experienced exactly 4 (four) reboots, none of them unrecoverable. The phone rebooted once while adjusting the equalizer in media player, once when I was looking at my pictures using "Media" menu and switched to next and previous picture (way too fast for its processing power), once while searching for bluetooth enabled devices in order to send a file. I can't remember the circumstances of the fourth reboot.
My device is a December 2007 edition and so far did not accumulate any dust under the camera lens cover or under the screen cover.
FW version is R1DA038.
I wrote to Sony Ericsson AB, explained what BROD is and asked them if they have heard about this strange problem. The first reply was gibberish as they completely avoided the answer, instead giving me directions about how to update my FW. I wrote back, asking them again about BROD and making it clear that I know how to update the phone's software but I am afraid to do it because it might render the phone unusable. The very next day (today, that is) they answered. Guess what they said: the last software version available for the Sony Ericsson K850i is R1DA.
I'm baffled. According to them, R1EA does not exist. Chew on that, K850i users!
What the heck is going on with SE??

One thing I do miss with the K850i, is the time and date,stamped so to speak right in the pictures as with the K800i.

maybe you should learn little about photo technique

.
its nothing wrong with k850 camera, actually i think its one of the best 5 M.P cameras of all cell phones.
(remember, even a cheap 2 M.P camera can produce good pics if you know how to do

)

@larry 68 Start backing up... If it is increasing that means your about to get BROD, at least thats the pattern I got. I started backing up on daily basis.
@plankgatan Dude, you are the only one that praises the last 2 FW versions, have you ever considered that maybe its not us but you who has a twisted perception of what the FW is and isn't? If we all can only be half as gifted as you at taking pictures on auto...

did i meantion the two last firmwares ??? ( i only said that nearlly all low end cameras need some skill(tecnique) to get good quality).
you cant blame the camera because the pic-quality is shit on some of your pictures, especially when other people get good pictures with exact same camera & cam driver !! (of course it can be something wrong with your camera, but that is quite seldom i think

)
(i could easily agree if "everyone" got bad pics, then its a total different story)
and yes, im 100% sure that new 037 is the best firmware, (espeially when i compare to the other i had...029 and old 037, who was terrible buggy & slow)
