For Vodafone Users I went to Voda Store yesterday and was told my Voda P990 is "Vanilla" e.g if your Voda P990i has the original SE Icons it has NOT been messed with by Vodafone all they have added is a startup logo and some pre configured accounts otherwise all else is left as per sim free P990!
But the guy who seemed to be very well informed on SE products in particular did say SE knew the phone was bug ridden but took the decision to release it knwing full well that the users would show them what was really wrong with the damn thing!!

so Vodafone early adopters can at least take heart in as much as we can take full advantage of all SEUS updates as I have already done! the bad news is the phone is still not reliable enough for business purposes, so I will be sticking with P910i for my business stuff my P990i is just for play at present,

Its all a a bit of a shame realy this thing could come good yet though and I am doubly glad I did not pay for mine what a shocking state of affairs, I wonder if I could get away with getting my customers to pay for all my R&D?!

Ares... you forgot a couple of things: we have not paid "more or less" the total price, we have paid completly the final price..., and SE never told us that this phone was not completly operative before giving them the total money!!!!

i knew how the phone was before i buyed it - you just had to read the reports here at esato...i knew the first firmware was very BAD...but i made the decision of buying it, because i really needed it and was sure SE would launch a new firmwares quickly, that would make the phone stable - and that did happen

now , i think its obvious why the new version is taking so long - they may want it to adress the main problem that still remains - the poor memory management

But some of us (like me) that had one of the first ever released (at least here in Sweden) didn't expect THAT MANY BUGS. Of course there is some problem in the beginning, but as I work with system development I really start to think that this is going to take LONG TIME before they have a really good software. I base that conclution that after 2 months on the market and after 2 firmware releases much havn't happened... Even new and more severe problems has appeared that wasn't there in the beginning. I have had modet SE phones released from the old GH-338 (swirvl antenna, and block LCD display)including P900 and so on... But NO phone uptil this one has even come close to that many problems/bugs.

Updated my P990i to latest firmware. Don't know if this is a bug but everytime I restart my phone and tap on the time function, the phone vibrates once and the LED blinks green until I tap on the screen. Sometimes, it vibrates continuously until I turn the phone off.

Anyone had this problem?

I have the latest firmware. Exactly the same problem. And also a problem with Contacts - Caller ID. My wife's contact is no longer recognized. It keeps telling to add number and can't read her SMSs - telling message is incomplete - access denied!

Anybody has this problem?

Is there a way to stop the phone from prompting to save every phone number received?

Yes,

Main menu / Tools / Controlpanel / "First choise" / Add to contact

Uncheck box "Add.."

(Menu items could be other words, freely translated from my Swedish phone)

People tell me the P800 was much worse when launched...and now, the M600 was also in worse state than P990 when launched

Please enlighten me what "severe problems" appeared that didnīt exist in older firmwares, and also what are your main problems with latest firmware...

Right now, my only problem is limited multitasking/bad memory management/memory leakage, that make me have to use task manager/swiss manager alot, and also having to use the video trick to speed up the OS - that should be an option to the user

Besides that, i have no problem at all, no random reboots, no missed calls, no problem with email, wifi, gprs, rss, sync with outlook, all works good
