In fact in my opinion of what I saw, in absolutely any shooting conditions will be better 808 (included night shots) !
Honestly, the only camcorder in 1020 will be higher than this in 808 and yet this superiority only exist because of the OIS!

Comparison: Pentax 645D (______Abyss____) Nokia 808. Is not fair of course.

What i see in the all about symbian comparison is that the 1020 produce sharper pictures. I like sharp pictures ! lol
The thing i don't like is the exagerated yellow tint a bit like some xperia phones.
I thinking that 1020 produce better/pleasant pictures in more situations than the 808 in auto mode without settings...and 1020 is worse than 808 for the symbian cameraphone's lovers.

You could make the 808 pics as sharp or as saturated as the 1020, but its very hard to get rid of the noise and grain present on the 1020 pics.
The auto mode on the 1020 is inferior overall.. the overasampling algorithm is not as good.
To get the most out of the 1020, you need to shoot in full resolution, and the post process on a PC.. that is the only way to even get close to the 808 in terms of overall IQ.

Yes but...
And nearly all the pictures taken with 1020 of all about symbian comparison are sharper than the 808.
This picture however with bright light !

Do not believe it my friend, this comparison was totally unfair and biased, since the camera was set up in 1020 to take pictures with super fine quality, while 808 took photos in fine quality !
P.S: I prefer to wait for posting photos
Cu015170,
Sylwester and
Sassho who are excellent photographers know and realize a fair comparison !

Funny that you accuse AllAbout
Symbian of being unfair to the 808, while I read on Twitter, that most people accuse the tester of the exact opposite, i.e. being unfair towards the 1020!
So who is biased here then ?

The 808 pics on AAS are all with 85% jpeg compression vs 95% on the 1020.
The 808 has to be set to superfine jpeg settings, which is when u get the best quality. Also, the sharpness levels which were used for the 808 are unknown. The 1020 does not have adjustable sharpness levels, so.. you get what it "thinks" its best for you.
There are plenty of examples here on esato.. the 808 can produce pretty sharp images if you so desire.
That being said, the 1020 might be sharper to begin with.. I mean the optics and the sensor in general, not just the processing.

I honestly do not understand all this skepticism !
No longer reason to doubt that the 808 is better than 1020 !
Once at least in theory, the 808 has better software and better hardware !
Remember 808 has a larger image sensor (1/1.2 "), more powerful xenon flash (4 meters), best photography menu and order a better post processing !
PS: But as I said earlier, I prefer to believe in the examples posted here on Esato, than those placed on these sites sponsored by manufacturers !
