@mwarner: when i goto the camera option it gives a message that sw version is 3.6 & atleast 3.9 is required. I also thought that 3.6 does not exist.
@mrao: yes it is branded(vodafone). Can u tell me where i can find the cable used for debranding. is T28 service cable must or will DRS-11 do? I have downloaded da-vinchi & can get credits for it. Or is there any other way to debrand it here in mumbai (heard there is shop in manish market).

SMJohns is correct - the DSS-20/25 is perhaps the best option for firmware flashing, although it isn't the only option!

The SE service people have finally managed to upgrade my fones f/w to R2AT003. cam s/w version is 3.10. Haven't explored it much yet but
ringtone problem is solved + now has search option in phone book + bluetooth conn speed with pc is doubled to 48Kbps.
Think it is going to be worth the trouble

After a lot of trials and tribulations I finally managed to unlock and flash my K700i with davinci which previously had all the Vodafone crap. Now everything is slicker and smoother, although the signal strength graphic is pretty annoying with the blue background.
But that is trivial compared to the freedom I have on my phone now! :D
Now I just need to find out how to get FMA working again. :/

With R2AT, video playback is bad. Files which played smoothly earlier now skip large number of frames.
Also it takes about half sec to get the unlock screen from display off (after pressing *). Bluetooth still turns off automatically sometimes.
Reception seems to have improved. But takes almost two secs to go from the answer yes/no screen to the hold/end call screen.
But this version is more useful than the old f/W.
