Anyway OBVIOUSLY, it's WINDOWS, so the crashes must be Bill Gates fault. Steve Jobs wouldn't do that to us....

Just to point out - if you compare X1 out-of-the box to iPhone, you make a horrible mistake - iPhone has to be tweaked to make even basic things like MMS or copy/paste...

Yes, I'm keen to get a good close look at one before deciding. So far I'm impressed with the camera (for what it is), and it's general performance as a WM phone seems as good as any. Panels don't excite me at all, but then I'm not expecting (or looking for) X1 to be anything other than a current iteration of the WM platform.

I like the idea of the tilted slide, and expect this will make viewing the screen substantially more comfortable than the standard flat slide. I also like the combo optical AND dpad controller (my i780 can operate as an optical mouse, or dpad style controller - but it's either/or, not both)

I also like the screen, and don't mind the small font in as I'm always trying to make fonts as small as possible to increase screen real estate. I like the resolution of the screen. I am keen to see how the optical controller and dpad and soft keys work when it comes to clicking ok, and navigating around the screen.

With WM, you don't actually need to use the stylus that often, however it's not like an iphone - you can use the stylus or dpad/softkeys efficiently for navigation but it's finger touch that is deficient. And we all know that there is no real finger touch interface available for WM yet (even touch flo is just an overlay) so I can't really hold this against X1 itself.

Don't worry as soon as I get a chance to have a good play I'll be posting my thoughts here!

Max_wedge, i`m very curious how are the pics made with X1. Can u post some? Or e-mail them?
I still oscillate between C905 and X1, not only in camera but in many aspects (videocall front camera, OS, screen etc)

True that, however I know that the iPhone doesn't support MMS or copy and paste (things I personally hardly use, so it wouldn't be a big deal for me or something I'd feel the need to change), and like I said I hate messing with a phone's software, or having to tweak it like I have my X1's. It's just not my thing. However, and it's a big however (disclaimer), just so you ALL know I don't own a iPhone and never have. I don't intend on getting one until certain things are fixed (like stereo bluetooth, video recording, and AT&T's exclusivity deal here in the US). With all of that in mind I can however appreciate it's ease of use with ONE or two hands, provided to it by it's awesome software and capacitive screen, as well as it's great capabilities as a media player (since it's essentially a iPod too)! I can guarantee you that you don't have to tweak these things or download new software to make these aspects of that particular phone work any "better" than they already do, which is my big gripe with the X1 so far. As a media player, it sucks. The Media panel that SE included isn't even close to that of the iPhone's media player. The software isn't the most finger friendly to use either. I've needed to download 2 pieces of HTC software just to make it's tiny supermodel thin icon/stylus menus useable with my sausage fingers...

I find it funny that everyone here is avoiding the obvious elephant in the room. Sure i mentioned the iPhone, and got the typical responses from the usual suspects, however what about the fact that I also mentioned S60 powered devices in the same sentence?... I think Nokia has a touch based iteration of it out now, with lots of planned upgrades for it if memory serves me right?... What happens when SE goes to Android or touch based S60 for it's OS with it's next Xperia product in the immediate future? What then? I have an idea of how that conversation will go: "It's the greatest thing ever, and SE with *insert OS here* is the best ever! Who needs that horrible WM now?..." XD

Like I said, I don't have another phone that I can use in the X1's absence, and can't be with out a phone for the several weeks it would probably take to get a replacement. I just don't want to be that inconvenienced right now. As long as I remember to reset it or turn it off every night I'm ok. It's a inconvenience, but something I'm going to have to live with for now. Honestly, I haven't heard enough of a convincing argument here to sway me otherwise into believing that it's something to do with my particular phone. I like to think that the anecdotal information that I've heard on the internet (like SE taking back ALL of the US X1's from Sony Style stores to fix them without a reason why they're being delayed, combined with SE recent track record) may have something to do with the problems I'm experiencing with my X1. Call me a skeptic or cynical (I am American after all), but I've learned after hanging around here for a while that a lot of the things most people say on here (a SE fan site btw incase you didn't know) should be taken with a grain of salt. I honestly think a lot of the users on here have lost their objectivity and perspective, you know the old saying "the forest for the trees"... I like to tell it how it is, hate me or love me for it I don't care, but I'm not that married to any one phone manufacturer... I want the best for my hard earned money and expect no less after spending it, and this phone is no exception.

I am thinking of getting the X1. What is the battery performance like on the phone. can you get through a whole day on the phone before the battery goes flat? How many days can you go without having to recharge???

Hey, I'm getting through about 3/4 of the (business) day with everyday use. I make a couple of calls through out the day; take and send several text messages; listen to music on the music player through Bluetooth at about 3/5 of the maximum volume setting for about 2 hours a day; sometimes I listen to music over the headphones from anywhere from 30 minutes to about an hour at the lowest volume setting; surf the internet over either wi-fi or EDGE depending on my location for about 20 minutes a day; have my emails pushed to me over a EDGE connection every four hours through out the day; and from time to time use Google maps with GPS enabled for driving directions, and quite can't make it through the day. I usually have to plug it in to my car charger on my way home. Mind you this is without any sort of extra (downloaded) app usage which will likely change now that I found a adequate NES emulator and just got Sling Player Mobile working, so half a day?... With my old N95 8GB I could get by all day with the same amount of usage (plus additional downloaded app usage) and was even able to play music at a moderate level over the speakers! l Hope that helps you out, or at the very least gives you an idea of what to expect from this thing battery wise. Whatever the case you'll more than likely have to charge it every night if your usage is anything like mine.

Ahh thank you for that. So your battery does not drain so quickly and is half empty by early afternoon? I have an XDA serra and battery life is bad. I have just got a new battery for it, will see how it goes over the next two days. If it doess drain again then i know it is a design fault and i will be swapping it for the X1 !!!!
