Obligatory, and tedious.
I know you are, but what am I? Seriously, if I hadn't mentioned it someone else would have leapt on it, it's one of the various elephants parading around this particular room.

No worries. WM isn't that power hungry tbh. I don't know about X1, though I have seen many reports that it can easily last a day with normal use (bit of internet, bit of music, bit of talk etc).
But take my Samsung i780, it has phenomenal battery life. My ipaq is good but not as good as the samsung. So I think it's not WM that's hungry but maybe just some phones.
My i780 lasted over 6 weeks in flight mode (I haven't used it lately) before it died, that included about 4 hours of internet use here and there otherwise all radio was off. When I am using it regulary I can get through the day and more with the usage you describe.
Maybe you are right about the battery use of X1. I will certainly be reading the forums closely to see other people's experience.
Question: do you turn wifi off when not in use? I only turn it on when I'm actually using it and this seems to help the battery last longer.
Hey, first off let me apologize for the other day. It was a long week at school and work the week before that culminated that day, and I really didn't want to talk about work related stuff here of all places. I'm not normally that terse or short, and I apologize for my behavior, or if I offended you. I'm definitely not here to argue or get into a pissing match with anyone. I really just want to discuss and debate the finer points of mobile phones.
Honestly, the battery is poop on this phone imo. I definitely turn off the wi-fi after each use (I'm almost OCD about that sort of stuff), and like I've mentioned countless times (this is @ MyP910), I always turn off the screen by "turning off" the phone using a short press of the power button after each use (even while listening to music in the car) and still only get what I feel to be sub-par battery life from this thing. Like I mentioned yesterday, I'll be lowering the screen brightness to see what affect this has on my X1's overall battery life today (since I'm driving out to Pasadena for some appointments and paperwork) but don't expect much...

Battery life cannot be really compared with individual usages.
My P1 sometimes lasts 24h although some people report 3 days etc.
It really depends on the pattern, not only on the numbers and minutes per action.

It's a hard thing to pin down and often unfairly judged, it's true. Deep down we all want our phones to go as long as the last good featurephone we owned (mine would have been the T68, which happily lasted 4-5 days on a charge) but of course the more these devices are capable of, the more we use them through the day, and the quicker that battery drains.
If we all turned off our email push/polling, stopped web surfing, stopped watching videos or listening to music, banned ourselves from all the other apps and games, and just used our phones for voice and text - we'd probably
all get a week or more out of our smartphones, regardless of make or model. Of course when you turn it all back on that changes, and if we really make heavy use of all the features constantly then none of them - the X1, P1, iPhone, Blackberry, will last the full day. Which is better? In reality, none of them - they all have the same basic limitations, none of them have solved the basic riddle of how to expend the most amount of energy through the day while packing the slimmest battery possible.
Roll on the miniature Fusion reactor...

Has anyone ever used a diamond or a pro here before? I have used MANY WM OS devices and I can swear to you that not a single one came within 50% of the standby of the X1. I cant get over how good the battery is in this device. I also use a C902 and this easily competes with it for standby. 2 -3 days I squeeze from it and I have bluetooth on 24-7 (actually stays on with Mortscript) for use with my MBW-100. I have tho changed all my stand-by settings and use the power button screen lock always but this is just normal use. I love this device!

Sure it can. I personally haven't changed my individual usage pattern
that much since getting this phone (actually I find myself using it less than my old N95 8GB for fear that it'll die on me mid day) with the exception of a few more texts that I now send here and there (thanks to the X1's awesome keyboard), and that's fact in regards to my personal usage pattern comparing my old phone to this one.
With my old N95 8GB I could do everything I now do, and more, and easily make it all the way home after a busy day with anywhere from 15-20% of my battery left at the end of the day. Why, just this morning I made sure that the phone was fully charged before leaving the house and connecting it wirelessly (via stereo bluetooth) to my car deck. I used it like this with my car deck for about 50 minutes during my drive in, in which time the phones battery became depleted by 30%!!! There is no way that I could ever use this phone as much as I did my old N95 8GB and expect to get anywhere near the amount of battery up time that I did from that particular device (which also had a smaller battery and screen, yet that I could listen to music on almost ALL day using a pair of wired headphones
)....

okay, but I'm confused because you are comparing bt stereo 50mins on the X1 with wired stereo on the N95 of all day. BT stereo sucks juice. Did you use BT stereo on your N95?
I know I could run my W910 all day on wired headset without any problem but seriously dent my battery if I use BT stereo for an hour.
btw, no worries about the other day, I'm not that easily offended and I have a short memory
I can be a pushy bastard too so it's not all your fault.

FWIW, my battery life for today -
100% when I left for work this morning at 6:45am
2.5 hrs BT stereo use (HBH-DS220) to/from work
auto-chk my 2 email addresses at every 15 mins and hour all day
Spb Traveler is set to auto-update weather & currencies every 2 hrs
10 texts
15 mins of calls
1/2 hr of internet at lunch
right now, my battery is reading 60%
mobile is set to GSM/EDGE with auto band selection

^Pretty good no? I know if I did that on my C902 it would be down around that mark - so getting this from a fully fledged Windows smartphone is pretty cool. Shame not all WM can compete in this league tho...
