What about plants ? They dont have a 'brain' . Are they conscious ?

Nope they do as they please, thats why they climb over anything and trees roots also moves paving if it wants... some flowers just follow sunlight ... they cant choose not to!

Depends on the level of consciousness you are speaking of. If by consciousness, you mean on a purely physical level, then plants are conscious because they respond to external stimuli just as animals.

You can say humans are intelligent, where as plants are not. But, consciousness, as per your implication, applies to both.

No, they are very concious at what they doing, their minds setup is just cruel but thats can range from a million psychological factors, but in terms of right and wrong they concious of all stimuli like touching a hot stove or jumping into a pit full of spikes... that they are very well aware of and can choose to do it or not...
they aware of what they doing when murdering and raping, they know its wrong and can choose not to, but then again they just f**ked up in their own special way!!
So yes they concious of what they doing, even if intoxicated...
