Hallo.. its nuisance again!
on the automatic route..it says ...
Your device is not permitted to use this service
Your operator does not approve the usage of this service for this device.
We look forward to assist you again soon.
Thank you for using Sony Ericsson Update Service!
I presume that means my settings are correct ?
If I try the recovery mode.. with battery out etc
It takes about 23mins to update... but goes to CDA2006/5 (again)
Arrrgghh its soo frustrating
The update service windows is version 1.43, are you using a different one ?
The unbrander log file in hfclasses says this after...
10:36:48 *** logfile opened
10:36:48 NO_CONF_FILE
10:36:48 C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\hfclasses\SEMCXORG.DLL loaded successfully

Ive become totaly obsessed with achieving this now Doc..!
this is what I have in the hfclasses folder.
as you can see the unbrander.conf file is 14bytes etc
Ive tried about 4 times this morning using the recovery mode without success..... and its still has 162006/5 as the cda.
Something that is strange is, when the update is complete, it's only reaches 88% and says its finished.?!
As a last resort, can someone pls send me their SEMCX*** files PLUS the unbrander.conf file ????
Thanks in advance..
TC

Looks like your unbrander.conf file is named
unbrander.conf.txt

Use Notepad instead of wordpad, and when you click 'save as', make sure that the drop down box for 'file type' in the save window is set to 'all files' and not 'text files'

Double click on My Computer, go to Tools->Folder Options and open the View tab. Untick "Hide file extensions for known file types". That way you get to see what the extension is.

while your in the folder options you can always add a file extension of .config ect ect... then just tell it to open with wordpad/notepad.
Meanes you can name the file .config and it won't add the .txt extension because it knows what it is.
Thats what i did anyways.

Now this is the way to report a problem

. I'm a bit tired saying this over and over again: read the faq and do
exactly as it says, check
every step. As You can see on your screens, the log says NO_CONF_FILE and Your conf file is "text type". Turn "hide file extensions" off and rename the file because currently it's not unbrander.conf as it should be, it's unbrander.conf.txt.
About the "Your provider doesn't allow..." error. Currently I don't know how to overcome that. It seems that some phones have been flashed with a firmware that doesn't support updating using SEUS and the only way to unbrand them is to flash them in a service centre.
I think this has been written before, but I'll repeat, just to be sure: unbranding/updating is
only possible when You use the sync-station (DSS-20 or DSS-25). You can't do it using bluetooth, irda or a serial cable.
EDIT:
Huh, I should have refreshed the topic before entering an answer

.
