I need some help here. Quite new with this Blackberry connect. I am trying to use it with my corporate BES server. And for some reason I can not connect my phone to my PC. Hence the status box instead of showing connected, it showed disconnected. Spoke to my IT guy, he said he added my name to the BES server already so i definitely is allowed to connect. I have a couple question here 1. Whether I need to subscribe any pushmail service at my telephone provide or not. Spoke to the provider he said, not necessary as I am alraedy subscibed for a GPRS. That sounds weird, can anyone confirm? 2. I look at the connection manager in P990 phone at the Blackberry, saw the username is 'rim', with an unidentified password. Not so sure if I need to change that to some other thing. Ok. Let's settle these for now. I am wondering if anyone can help me here. Thanks in advance.

Chaiyarat, you will need to have the Blackberry APN added to your service provider account as it is this which allows your phone to speak to your BES.

Thanks Artesea for your quick response. I am wondering what the APN stands for. I'll talk to my provider again. Thanks.

APN = Access Point Name
Your service provider should know what it is.

Basically, you will need a separate DATA plan.
This is different than the GPRS, even though data flows through GPRS, it's not the same data.
Go figure.

BB is working just fine with one exception, I can't view any attachements.

Have three questions:

1 Can't save, view or otherwise get the attachements. Regardless size (11kb and up) nor type (pdf, jpg, doc, xls). Any ideas on what to do?

2 How to attach a signature to outgoing emails? My colleagues with "real" BB have a "sent with my..." signature to explain a not to elaborate response.

3 Is there anyway of assigning a category or other sortable identifier to emails sent with the BBC so that I can sort them in Outlook later?

Thanks,
Oscar

If I want to view an attachment I click on the view attachment button, not the attachment, this way I can see files that are over 100k then click on them - doesn't always work!

If you want to add a signature to your emails this is done using the software one the computer, there is a tab(second I think in the SE BB software) where you can enter txt in a box. Once this is done click apply and the phone is updated. That is as long as it is attached.

Don't know the answer to the 3rd question.

Hope these answers help.
