So Nokia said it has SHIPPED 1 million, good for them. That doesnt equate to sold you know. And if they shipped 1 million now, they are going to sell 2 million by years end? Its only a month left. You need to remember it is Nokia saying this.

Do you really think they don't get the money when they ship the phones to the operators/retailers?!?!? Do you really think that Nokia don't get the money until operator/retailer has sold the devices?!? I don't think so!! Nokia has sold this much devices, but it's another thing how much operator/retailers have sold this device. The fact is that Nokia has sold the phones.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I seldom use this argument since its rather arrogant, but you seem to be too thickheaded for anything else to work. There is no way in hell you can prove that low end phones have higher margins than high end phones. If you read my post, and the relations between 5110/6110, T68/T300, you will see that the high end phones was/is the same as the low end phones, but the low end phones are half the price. Which means the MANUFACTURING costs are equally low, which means the profit MARGINS are higher on T68 or was on 6110. Proof good enough?

Do you have the fact on this? I don't think so.

I was counterdicting your statement about Nokia being innovative. Thanks for confirming my point. 3510 was not an MMS phone though. It removed the sound, made the pictures black/white, and doesnt support animations. Think about it. LOL

3510 can receive pictures, MIDI sounds, text and animations in MMS message. So I think it's an MMS phone.

LOL. You are kidding right? Have you looked at this phone? The only reason they released this phone, is that they wanted press attention badly. This is not going to be a phone released to the market. It is for network testing. SE/Motorola/Siemens/godknowswho has 3G phones for testing with networks. Only Nokia has the state of mind to "release" the damn thing. Smart of them, but uninteresting. They are good at marketing though, and that shows.

6650 is going to ship during 1H/2003. See http://www.nokia.com/phones/6650/faq_availability.html

So, my suggestion is that you find out the FACTS first and then try answer the questions. It's not that hard really.

@ Knut G:

Yes, you're an arrogant individual. But nevermind that.

On manufacturing costs, I do know much better than you would expect. Nevermind... But we're obviously talking about different companies and experience.

Anyway, you're one of the few who do not want to acknowledge Nokia remains an innovative company. Yet, Nokia has once again been acclaimed to be innovative with yesterday's releases. But if you don't know what innovation means, I can't quite help you. Nokia wide range of products (not only mobile phones) and continuous success speak alone.

Innovation is not putting every possible function in a single device, in a swiss-knife manner... Every single mobile phone company can do that. But some of these companies have realized that most of the people don't even use half of the features, hence do not even bother including some of the features. Innovation is all about new good usable ideas.

Do you really think they don't get the money when they ship the phones to the operators/retailers?!?!?
--------------------------
Of course they do, that wasnt the point. Maybe I should have been clearer on this. Shipping doesnt mean the consumer has bought them. The relevance? If the consumer hasn't BOUGHT the 1 million phones, then Nokia cannot SHIP any more phones, cause the different retailers still have plenty in stock. My point stands. Food for thought. If it shipped 650 000 phones in Q3, and by now has shipped 1 million, the sales isn't going very good, now is it?

------------------------------
Do you have the fact on this? I don't think so.
------------------------------
I have relations with several Phone resellers, so I have access to the prices the shops pay. I have proof on this, and all the proof u need is in the retail price anyway. The facts are in my post. Or do u disagree that T68 and T300 is basicly the same phone? Or that 5110 and 6110 was the same? All the facts you need are in my post, read it pls.

--------------------------------
3510 can receive pictures, MIDI sounds, text and animations in MMS message. So I think it's an MMS phone.
--------------------------------
We were talking about the 3510 not the 3510i version. 3510 is NOT an MMS phone, no matter how much Nokia claims it to be. Check the specs or reviews. It cannot recieve sound(ie voices) in MMS, the pictures are all converted to black/white and it doesnt fully support animations. End of story. All of these are pretty vital to the MMS standard, hence my point.

----------------------------------
6650 is going to ship during 1H/2003
---------------------------------
True, except no one will buy it, and no one will carry it. We will have to wait to see. IMO the market for this device is so small, and the device is so unexciting in itself, that the few phones Nokia will sell, will hardly mean a thing. This is of course, my opinion.

-------------------------------------
Yes, you're an arrogant individual. But nevermind that.
--------------------------------------
I'm only arrogant to people that are arrogant back, and I still think you are thick headed.

--------------------------------------
On manufacturing costs, I do know much better than you would expect. Nevermind... But we're obviously talking about different companies and experience.
---------------------------------------
I guess we are. What are you talking about, car companies? I have worked as a salesman for 4 years, and have access to all prices, plus often talk to company officials. The reason I refuse to budge on this stance, is that I know I am right. And you have yet to prove a single thing in the opposite direction.

----------------------------------------
Anyway, you're one of the few who do not want to acknowledge Nokia remains an innovative company
-----------------------------------------
No I'm not. Hardly any serious phone reviewer think's of Nokia as an innovative company. They have seen too many 3xxx phones to belive that.

----------------------------------------
Innovation is all about new good usable ideas
----------------------------------------
Right, and lets take that looooong list we argued about, and see where this fits in. The keywords here are GOOD and USABLE. Listen, I dont think SE is very innovative either, so I'm not an SE fanboy trying to lift the company up. The point is, one can be innovative without being an innovative company. The P800 is innovative, but that doesnt make SE an innovative company just because they have a few products that are.

Nokia is a PR company, sadly this is what it has evolved to more or less. I mean seriously, you have 30-40% marketshare, and it takes you 1.5 - 2 years(depends on releasedate on 8910i) to match a competing product that sold shitloads. How is that impressive?

We are probably never going to agree here, so like a sensible post by Ruvjet(who had a helluva lot more good points than you) I will say we will have to agree to disagree.
