A friend of mine finished work at 3.30pm and her 20 minute journey finished at 9.30pm.

The Runcorn Bridge was closed so she took a diversion, got stuck in a traffic jam, nearly ran out of petrol so she turned the engine off and was stuck in her car shivering for over 5 hours.

@masseur

I know what you mean. I live less than 10 minutes walk from work, its much less stressful than waiting on cancelled trains etc.

I need to drive 35min to work. Public transportation is not that great for the connection I would need.

80mph gusts in South Wales atm.

It was all over the news last night that there would be storm force gales in N.Wales too but its a bit quiet where I am, may be the calm before the storm.

There is more to come tonight. I say this global warning is complete tosh. Sorry but we in the UK have had this sort of weather for years and years nothing has changed we are an island nation surrounded by the sea we are going to get battered from time to time its nature. Its fun watching the huge sea waves though at a safe distance. My garden fence has not blown down but was lifted from its posts and and flung into the air across the garden. Also next doors for sale sign split in two. Lol.
