I can't see what all the hurrah is about....by the time this is launched, the n95 will be out...thats when my n73 will go back to cpw for a straight swap.

Couldn't give a toss about anything regarding apple.

I've got a couple of opioions about the iPhone, some of them are:
* It has a cool interface, but I think it might be a bit strange to get used to...
* Its shape isn't the nicest thing I've seen (looks too simple, their computers look nicer)
* Lack of 3G isn't good.
* And the worst thing: It's way too limited when it comes to expansion... It's got NO Java (J2ME) and it won't install unsigned 3rd party apps... (info from a reliable Swedish news source)

No way I'm getting it.

I feel compelled to comment on this.

Please state where is says no J2ME. From my understanding it will run a version of Mac OS X, which runs Java just fine. The current 3rd World version uses EDGE but the real world versions will probably have 3G based on the connectivity to iTunes. How can you compare a phone to a computer in regards to shape or visual attractiveness? Apples and oranges. Apps will come as more and more developers develop for the platform. It is a new device, so of course there are no 1st party, 2nd party, or 3rd party apps. Be realistic. Apple tends to listen to their customers a bit more than SE. They eventually come around.

As for you buying it, oh well. I am sure Apple will survive, considering the fact that people would stand in line for one.

i think i'm going to get iphone when i'm at singapore! cheaper hehe but still, i'm going to use my k800 as my secondary phone and my 8850 gold(classic!) as my extra phone

@firetech
regarding java, i think you made some mistake. you see, java is the most verstile program language of all programming language. it adopts itself to all operating system and even other programming language. now i dont believe that it wont install 3rd party program because that is crap and come and to think of it, i think that is one of the agenda of iphones rivalry to destroy their market.

and to me, the simplier the phone the design.. its much nicer to me so i betcha this will going to rock and i'm going to get myself one.

The same question can ba asked of you, where exactly have you read or heard for definite that the iPhone will have 3G when it's launched in Europe? Or are you guesing as I suspect you are.

Well I reckon that the only reason for all the hype is because it's Apple branded. If Nokia came out with a phone like this, would news stations around the world even raise an eyebrow?

Apart from the interface (and to some, the looks), there's nothing really to be excited by. I've read/seen countless times on the news, 20-something US girls proclaiming, "OMG, like I can finally have my iPod and a phone together in one! And even better I can access the internet with my phone as well!"

Well I need say no more about the target group. Even an engineer working on the iPhone team said that even if they added 3G/3.5G, their target audience wouldn't know the difference.

Read this with Mr Jobs and get a glance of the features the iPhone will have.

Steve Jobs clearly states that the iPhone will have no Java support.
In his own words “Java’s not worth building in. Nobody uses Java anymore. It’s this big heavyweight ball and chain.”

About Flash he says “Well, you might see that.”

Also there is...
No wireless (Bluetooth or Wifi) syncing at all...
No sync with Outlook...
No 3G...
No 3rd party programs...
Not all programs will be able to use the horizontal screen mode...

English lesson: By using the word "probably" I have entered a caveat, or supposition, and by all accounts a guess. A guess based on the fact that 3G is much more prevalent in Europe and the rest of the world than in the US. I did not say they would for sure, but entered a guess based on the eventual sales in Europe and the rest of the world. We can put this to bed now, right?
End of lesson.

I own an iPod and SE phone, and think they're both awesome.

Really like the look of the iPhone but i'm not sure its memeory capacity is big enough, only 4GB or 8Gb for music, movies and photos... seems quite small especially since my iPod is 30GB.

Combine the two, SE and iPod, reckon that will ever happen?!

this iphone made it in the daily paper here in Melbourne, The Herald Sun.

And it was even in the technology guide, just the normal news pages..

Never see any or nokia, samsung etc in pages like that....Media will make it sell.....

They even said its a revolutionary phone, how delerious are they
