Not true, I am a heavy P990 user & I can feel any slight changes.

May be yes, but you would feel the same slight change after doing a reflash with the old firmware as well.

@tail
Regarding restores of old backups, from trial & error since the previous firmware upgrade, I've found that the best option for me is to do partial restores - contacts, calendar & settings only & one at a time. This does not work for all backups. I've deleted all backups except the ones which do not result in a unstable device, and I have no reboots, problems with wifi, etc doing partial restores of 'stable backups'.

I am so fed up with these FW updates.
Why on Earth is SE not able to deliver a FW so I will never ever have to update the phone again?
Not publishing a change log is a strategy.
Because if they do it, they will let us know what are the real issues with the phone. And that will give us a better view of how deep the problems are.And they do not want that, do they?

while I agree about the changelog and that SE should at least let us know anything that impacts the UI/performance/features etc, tell me any phone company, or indeed software company, that does not provide updates to their products after they hit the shelves.

Indeed these days its not just software either, many hardware manufacturers provide firmware updates.

Its the nature of most businesses to get products out quickly and deal with the issues later, though perhaps in the case of the P990 and its delays, that isn't quite so true

Just updated to latest FW.
The only thing that bugs me is that I have got to re-install JabpLite each time although I did complete backup prior to update.
Definately no improvements noted on speed (just my feeling, like how others felt it to be faster)
RAM at boot up 16.2M
Else so far so good

Thanks, how do I do that?

The phone is completely unresponsive. The Vodafone start screen comes up and then the phone just freezes there.

Tried taking out the battery and sim card but nothing works!

Damn FW update!!!!

Unless you were on the very old FW there was no need to update as there is no new FW for Vodafone handset available.

For people that say nothing has changed, just do this: make one or two reclaims (level 3) with SM Pro...then push the back button - what happened with last firmware was that it took some anoying time for the phone to load the activity menu app, that was terminated by SM Pro...now it takes two seconds max! So, for the guy wanting a timer to measure speed improvement, this is has objective has it can get, it is really much faster in some things. @Lisa, what do you think about this?

Like i said, not much, but my phone is more stable than ever, 0 reboots and 0 kernel errors so far, etc Hey, we were bitching some months ago because SE didnīt release incremental firmwares, it took so much time...right now they are much faster working on it, and we know R5 is around the corner

And i just donīt understand that guy that said he only can get 1 app on background, 2 max, heīs phone must be completly f**ked up

Now, if only they released a new improved version of PC Suite, i guess the backup problems of many people might be solved

I'm not complaining about the availability of the update, but it's ridiculous that we should spend days trying to figure what the change was. The changelog should be available BEFORE the update so we can decide whether to update or not. Since SE can't provide a decent backup/restore program, after each update we have to spend a considerable amount of time reinstalling applications setting lost radio presets etc. SE might release a new fw update every week, which is good, but I certainly wouldn't be doing all these updates, if I don' have an issue regarding that particular fix I would wait for the next one and do them all together. Somehow SE seems to think that we live for the P990.
One final word, you still need SM, maybe Lisa & co. may consider opening courses for the SE programmers, good money there
