Mine is original GW1.
Seems I got lucky then, if indeed the R5A17 is better...

just upgraded (R5A17) noticeable difference in speed, volume, and launching of Java apps. Swiss manager pro doesn't seem to work, not needed any more? I used it a lot to check memory, where can you see remaining memory normally? LCG jukebox also not working for me , can't get it reinstalled. Apart from all that all seems fine.

I updated this morning and have been several hours without a crash, although i'm not letting myself get too excited.
First impressions are positive with R5A17, installed exchange activesync and synced myself up with success.
Only thing of note is that when you close apps in task manager it doesn't seem to refresh the list, i'm guessing there is some ram reclaim going on, i have to go out and back in.
Had contacts, calendar, media player, web, control panel and some other bits open a moment ago and it had about 4megs free when i closed them all i got back up to 10.5 megs and it appears stable.
interested to see how it behaves in my cradle as that is where it has been found to crash most often, one whole night without a crash would be a miracle. we shall see.....

maybe stupid question but where can you see remaining memory normally? (used to rely on SMP for this info!)

@macwilmore:
The only way is to select Status under More on the Flip CLOSED home screen.
And the ones of you bitching about SMP not needed anymore, it has lots of features other than just memory reclaim...

Its instant menu has a problem, see details and solution in
this post. Otherwise, it works just as previously.
not needed any more?
That depends on whether you need a task/file manager with many estras or not.

This sort of answers your previous question.

I upgraded this morning and cant log in to download emails, I get a message saying that "the account has errors in its server setting".
I'm using exactly the same GPRS settings as before I upgraded and I can download my emails using a WLAN connection

On standby (FC), go to 'more', scroll down to 'status'. Voila! System info & available memory
