the music player determines the quality of sound that goes to the earpiece, it processes the music file and produces an output which goes to the earpiece. the earpiece's function is to reproduce the output provided by the music player. in terms of importance, I'd say music player 70/30 earpiece? the source (media player) must be more important than the end product (music coming out from earpiece) IMO. you can have the best headset out there, but it wouldn't be of any use if the music produced by the player is crap, you'd just end up reproducing the crap sounds coming from the player (albeit more accurately

).

it all depends. If you have $5 headset it's gonna sound like crap no matter how good the output device. In my experience, I've found cheap portable mp3 players can be drastically improved by using a quality headset (not expensive, just good quality, say like a mid range Sony or Phillips), rather than the cheap set that comes with.
So for the Walkman phones, which have good quality output to start with (better than cheap mp3 players by far), you want atleast a HPM70 standard headset (it's headset is similar to a Sony MDR51), and a Sony MDR71 would be even better (or similiar - pick your favourite quality brand)
For me, I would say the importance of the headsets is atleast 40% if not an equal 50/50.

the k810i is more or less the same as the k800i, with a few cosmetic changes. if you like the design, then I don't see why not since the k800i is a good phone as any.

K810 has a less obtrusive shutter cover.

i'm sorry but K810 and T650 are neither equipped with "great music players" and are not meant for video playing due to their abnormally small screen size for todays standards. P1 is a different phone all together, however i think the same will happen to it what happened to P990, selling for 700$ at release, and after one year, not even worth 400$. So basically none of the phone you mentioned are good at all 3 things.

@qvga
k810i has a 2" screen. fine for a non smartphone imho..... videos looked fantastic when converted properly on k800i screen.....
and i dont know how you can say they have bad media players when you havent used either of them.... they might have standard media player, yes, but the quality may have gone up a little..... who knows.... i know you certainly dont, again, you have not touched either one to be able to comment....

for video watching i think its the size that matters a lot too and 2.0'' is small, but thats subjective. and i didnt say they have 'bad' media players i said they are not great. I have used K800 and i am 100% sure T650 has a same media player if not worse.

p1 is 2.6" just a little smaller than p990. which is 2.8"..... videos will look fantastic no that screen, they did on my w950 and p990.....
@qvga
saying they are not great, can mean different things, to me, it mean you were saying its bad.... who knows, the t650 might have a different media player, maybe a little updgraded compared to k800.... its a new line of phone, it already has a couple 'different features', again the media player might be changed a little too..... it comes with hpm-75 too, upgraded hpm-70's. good headphones to start off with....
