Thanks. My question is still the same. My reasoning being, that I have some friends that work for Nokia in marketing. They are very interested to know why someone would spend this much money, and then sell their device, then take a step backward (their opinion, mine as well) rather than wait for a sure fix? In this very forum, there are three long running (almost a year and a year long) talking about how bad the k800i was, the P990 was/is, and the M600i. So there is no magic phone out there on the market, produced by anyone.
This is a complex questions that has a plethora of answers. The fact is, there are people who change cell phones every month and lose hundreds of dollars in the process, without 'valid' justification. Cell phones have become yet another tool to fill the gap in many people's lives. It's something you carry around all day and has become part of your overall profile.
I don't particularly think the P990 is a step back from N95. I'm on of those who believe that comparing these two phones is just ungrounded because they cater to two different audiences. I had the chance to buy the N95 for the same price as the P990, and I flat out chose the latter. Why? I love the choice between the qwerty and the phone pad. I love the touchscreen. I love the UIQ 3.0. I love the form factor. I think it's the hottest phone out there. Does that make me unaware? No. I'm simply someone who thinks that a poor GPS, an average mp3 player, a 5 mp camera that is not superior to $100 BenQ digital camera, all of which is packaged in a device that goes dead after a day of average use is not worth $700.

Hip, hip, hurrah. Damn good post dude.
You hit the nail on the head. I had a Nokia N800. Great device but not marketed and sold (in my opinion) to the right market. It is a developers and Linux techie device. It has no syncing capabilities and no phone. To get the maximum benefit, you have to have a 3G phone so that you can connect to the net. Also, software installation was not that easy, and just using the device could be a nightmare.
I was a diehard SE fan but was forced to switch when SE stated quite publicly that they have no intention of supporting my computing platform, i.e. Macintosh. Nokia on the other hand has embraced the Mac world and is providing excellent support. After using the M600i, and previously, I relalize that I am not a touch-screen person and am quite happy with the keyboard on my E-61, and with the T9 of my N95. Do I think they are superior than UIQ? Yes, but for me and for me alone. What works for me may not work for you and this is the point of my posts. The guy that started this thread made an interesting choice by jumping product types and markets. This is what Nokia and SE (hopefully) will look at in the future as they design and market phones.
Once again, great post.

@Johnex
You and Ares make a great double team any one that says how much they like their SE is a hero but any one that dares criticise the almighty SE is automatically a Nokia Fan boy and enemy. I used to respect a lot that you posted but since you wanted me banned when i actually did nothing more than dare criticise the great SE i have slowly lost all respect for your biased Fan Boy rantings. Such a shame you can't see and admit reality even some of the time. As if you think SE has behaved correctly with their UIQ3 devices you really have lost the plot. But then why not ban everyone that criticise SE so only positive things are posted who cares about reality or if SE do wrong and take your money.
Marc

to people saying the N95 is just overpriced substandard stuff in a piece of plastic...erm actually the p990i is also full of stuff(substandard or not depends on your opinion) packed in a BIGGER piece of plastic.those saying the N95 is too expensive...when the p990i came out it was going for the same price range....but because it was so dissapointing(my opinion)...the market became flooded with them and the price drop over time was quite much.you can pick a N95 up for £350-380. i bought a p990i for £300 in december last year so the N95 SEEMS to be keepin its price a bit better.
to be honest can someone point out to me something the p990i can do and the N95 cant do as well or better....for people who r cryin bout the n95's lack of touchscreen and qwerty...i wasnt aware that if a phone lacked these features it was automatically inferrior to one that had them...i mean if ur a family man then you'd prefer an suv or minivan to carry your family...but because theres not enough space in a ferrari dosent mean its automatically inferior to your minivan simply because it dosent meet one of your needs(touchscreen and qwerty in the case of N95)....and we all kno a ferrari is much more superior to any minivan...even though it may not suite us individually..

@sap
which ever thread it is your final point is the same, you're not happy that se don't support mac and everything is subjective.
Since most people use pc, unfortunately you'll just have to wait for mac support. You could as you suggested, demand consumer satisfaction from se.

i just said what i saw...funny how now the bad one is johnex...reality is some guy changed a n95 for a p990, created a thread, and certain people jusrcan´t handle it, and choose to make stupid remarks and attack uiq3 owners has a whole
@doggman: it was trying to getting along with you in the latest few days, but once again, you choose to invoque my name and attack it...always the same thing...
this was an interesting thread, but the people that destroyed it weren´t uiq3 owners
@bobbafet, man, you´re not the saint you seem to think you are...and you advices/critiques are always for the same people, when the discussion is between two sides, and actually who started it was the other side. I also saw what you said about eldar on the ...very polite and civilized indeed. Be serious, it was not Johnex that started it...

Without resorting to insults regarding that particular member, i totally agree!!
Boba is quite correct, if you can't say anything positive in a thread, then don't say anything at all IMO.
