I used
"K850i R1CA037 CID52 K850 1201-9794 CUSTOMIZED UK/ BLUE WESTERN-EUROPE" when I de-branded mine and mine is working great.

I can't debrand my voda k850...?

I keep getting this message...

Davinci has 029 firmware available.Using this firmware and then using SEUS will sort the debrand out and also put the latest firmware on the phone.Have done this many times.Did my girlfriends W960 yesterday as well.That was a voda handset and the debrand went fine. @Kai. If you have no joy mate. I'll sort it for you. Just drop it into me at work or summit wit the money for the credits and i'll do it the same night mate.

038 is for branded phones only.

R1CA037 is the latest for sim free, unbranded handsets.

When I got my K850 in December 2007. It already had the 037 firmware on it but someone had done a master reset on the phone.
I checked Davinci and they only had 029 firmware. I flashed to 029 and then used SEUS.
SEUS said I already had the latest software installed but I continued with the update anyway and ended up with 037 with no branding at all.

If Davinci has R1CA037 then reflash with that one. As long as you dont choose the operator specific one you will get the generic version (Choose CUSTOMIZED UK with the correct customization and phone colour - Green or Blue)

Current non operator branded firmwares available on Davinci for the UK (Western Europe) are:-

For the Blue model K850

Version: R1CA037
Phone: K850
Customization: 1201-9794 CUSTOMIZED UK/BLUE
CDA: 1202-5694
Date: 27/11/2007


For the Luminous Green model K850

Version: R1CA037
Phone: K850
Customization: 1203-2590 CUSTOMIZED UK/GREEN
CDA: 1202-5694
Date: 27/11/2007


Note the different customization for each colour K850.


039 is available on Davinci but is only available for HUTCH-WORLD which is an operator branded firmware.

I finally debranded mine to:

K850i R1CA037 CID52 K850 1201-9794 CUSTOMIZED UK/ BLUE WESTERN-EUROPE

which is fantastic so much better than the Orange UK, and then i updated to 031 using SEUS.

The phone is now so much better, i now love it.

what does the "customization" file mean? is it different meaning on the K790a then for the K850i?

Can a customization file restrict a phone being able to be updated via SEUS or FOTA?
