S60 has system wide copy-paste a long time.
Are you certain about that???? Can you copy and past from ANY place to ANY place in the entire phone OS, including java apps??? AFAIK, sometime ago, you couldnīt even do that on the Nokia Web Browser...be serious will you???
Yes, it is system-wide. I can copy-paste to Opera Mini (java). And I can copy-paste to/from Opera Browser (the same one you have on your UIQ3). But the built-in safari browser somehow got problem with copy-paste. This is a problem with the browser and not related to the copy-paste.

I'm not folowing this topic anymore, but there is something you said a few days back that keep me awake at night.
You are wrong in thinking the Operating System should come with all functionality and applications.
That is not the function os an OS. The function of an OS is to provide a work platform for developers create new applications.
Have you noticed that besides Microsoft having tons os applications (just search), and besides that not even Office comes embedded in Windows? And why not?
Well, because otherwise they would be killing the competition, specially if they OS offers a good product.
This is a very important issue.
If you think not, just search for lawsuits against Microsoft...
So, from this point of view, your idea that UIQ3 does not bring Zip support, and because of that Nokia is best, makes no sense.
Zip is freeware on UIQ3.
Have fun

I use to prepare quite large word document about certain topic for my job purpose by browsing the internet and using copy/paste function. Very useful function, specially with stylus+ts for easy text selection.
Of course it will be useless for above job if there is no possibility to create and edit a new word document.

if you say so.

But this doesnt mean copy-paste does not exist in S60. As far as I know the only problem I have is the Nokia safari browser. Like I say a couple post back, the list is more about quantitative rather than qualitative.

I think the more appropriate terms to describe UIQ3 or S60v3 is "platform". Symbian itself is the operating system on which UIQ3/S60 is built upon. I think it is fair when comparing "platform", you should look at what is bundled as a whole package. (just like when u r comparing dumbphones)
@koto
There is no doubt copy-paste is definitely easier to do with a TS. This applies also to navigation of UI. That's the intrinsic advantage of a TS. Of course TS comes with its own cons too.
==================
updated my list to include editing of office doc as an advantage of UIQ3. (Note: this is not strictly correct as some S60v3 like E90 comes with editing of Office but since most S60v3 do not, it is fair to say this is an advantage of UIQ3)

Yes you are right. It was an easy mistake, since in SE (nor Microsoft, nor Mac) the OS can not be detached from the plaftform.
Name it what you want, but they are so intermixed that calling it OS is not 100% incorrect.

Two addictions, very important:
1. At least P990 supports full one handed operation (UiQ3) and also Z8.
2. Yes, we have a default video streaming app called Online. Playing from m.youtube or some prepared servers (like mine's operator server with news etc.)
Also, what koto pointed out:
the same action with copying/document making with TS/full copy&paste ability/editing word would be a nightmare without these capabilities. TS itself makes a device at least 3 times more usable/user friendly!!!
And effectively I regard it as a cruical thing, opposed to your list, containing many unimportant/less important features.
Also copying text strictly from Opera 8.65 is magnificent ability. Indeed like a computer.
Personal statement
As I said, S60 proves to be great too.

But in different ways? (Hm. I think we're making serious headway here.)

From what I hear and see (my close relative has N95) S60 is also very user friendly and full of features. N95 is without doubt the most advanced phone up to date bit its lack of some strict business features makes me stick to P1 (plus battery life and pocket size). We shall se what will nokia bring with its first ts phone if it is true that nokia will present it in 2008. I don't care about user interface name if it provides me what I need on the first place.
