Well what I mean is the java version will work through a proxy server (t-mobile t-zones) but the uiq version doesn't.

Have you tried the "Change Connection" option. I know I had to press it a few times to force it to use the correct internet settings.

Yes I have tried the "change connection" option, it opens up my gprs connection and it just hangs, so I know it's using my gprs. I look at the log, there is kb's of sent data, but the received data is usually 0 or .1kb, and never/rarely changes.

i tried using google maps with a P1i and a hge-100 gps
google maps dosnt detect the gps unit @ all and only uses the cell tower postions for my location.
hopefully they fix this in final release
I found the wayfinder navigator excellent in Australia but it dosnt have maps for New Zealand
so for now all the hge-100 is good for is a FM antenna for listening to the radio with my DR-BT50 Bluetooth headphones except it drains battery

I was able to get a copy of gmaps version 2.03 java off of the sony ericsson mobile site. I continued to try to get the sis version 2.06 to work to no success, it would only work on wifi and not gprs, the app continued to tell me i did not have a data connection. Im guessing that the app requires at least edge or 3g speeds to work properly, because tmobile usa has no 3g network (at least until this summer) this updated app is not going to work properly for anyone on tmobile usa. Im curious to see if it works on cingular? If anyone finds a solution please share the wealth.

Won't be a speed thing - it works for me when I'm not in 3G coverage (gprs only).
More likely is that you're using your service providers' WAP access point (which will only support web stuff and feed through some proxy that munges webpages to be "mobile friendly") wheras what you probably need is their "proper" internet APN which gives full access. Assuming such a thing exists
