I'll take your word for it, but I've never seen such fastport damage myself. I would expect it would involve undue care to cause such damage, not normal everyday use.
I would really like to spend a day with all you people that say that because the handsfree brakes is for being uncarefull. And for the love of god its no the fastport itself its the handsfree that brakes cause the fastport itself is a useless piece of crap unless your like some of these guys in here that probleby sit on their chair at a office space, unlike me and all the people i know that uses s.e phones and handsfree. There is no other place to put the mobile then in your pocket. Im not buying a new phone so I can put it in a pocket fasten to my belt cause then i could change my name to steve urkel!
I've been using SE phones for a long time and have had problems with their handsfree all the time. I have to buy a new one every 3-4 months and no its not because they are dirty cause as soon as i connect the new one everything works fine!
Read my post mate. I have found the exact same thing occasionally as you say (but not every three months) - a handsfree that stops working on my phone, a new one works fine, BUT if I clean the fast port then the old one works fine also. I gave my reasoning as to why this might happen, maybe you are too impatient to read other people's posts.
Nevertheless, if you keep it clean then old handsfree's will work again. If you don't want to be bothered cleaning it then fine suit yourself. No matter what you say about yourself being a snotty nosed kid who doesn't have enough balls to wear his phone on his belt (btw I don't sit in an office all day) the fact is there are many satisfied fastport customers who don't have problems so try as I might I'm hard pressed to understand how you can have so many problems with headsets that you have to replace them every 3 months. If you want to carry your phone in your pocket that's your choice. I carry mine in my pocket sometimes too, and it's never been a problem for me.
Seriously I've never heard ANYONE with the same extent of problems as you, so I find it very hard to believe all the others are wrong and you alone are right.

I read your post, and everyone elses too? Did you read mine? It has nothing todo with dust man, i have cleaned it. Its like the other guys say the springs on the connector dont stay firm for a long time. This is riddiculous, i know what I have expericed with the god damn handsfree and what all my friends have to and like 50% of the people in this thread. The fastport is shit, its not made long lasting and if you dont belive this take a bit of plastic and bend it back and forword over a 1000 times and check how it feels from the first time and to the last time. It will loosen up its not something i made up!
"kid"? I dont know where you come from but at earth its about style not age. Wearing a phone with a belt pocket its discusting!
I dont know why people keep defending the fastport its just stupid. Mini Usb
Its the best cant argue with that! Im not gonna read anymore at this thread cause all you guys do is reapet the same thing and its started to get annoying! Good luck with your fastport (we'll see how long it will last on SE phone)

I'm sorry to question your experience, but you are also questioning the experience of everyone who has no problems with fastport (50% going by your statistic). That can mean only one thing to me, some people treat the fastport in such a way that weakens it more than the other 50% like myself who don't have problems. I repeat again, I have had my HPM-70 for over two years, used everyday. I use it in my pocket or on my belt, mostly on my belt but about 1/5 of the time in my pocket I have a standard stereo headset, used for 6months. I have another headset I use in the car about two or three times a week, have used that one for 12 months. My brother in law, sister, and about 4 or 5 of my friends have used fastport with no problems.
The fastport is shit, its not made long lasting and if you dont belive this take a bit of plastic and bend it back and forword over a 1000 times and check how it feels from the first time and to the last time. It will loosen up its not something i made up!
then it's the amount of flexing while it's in your pocket, which if it were a 3.5mm headset or usb-mini would cause damage to the socket not the headset, so thankfully you have a fastport and your phone itself is not damaged.
"kid"? I dont know where you come from but at earth its about style not age. Wearing a phone with a belt pocket its discusting!
That's downright insulting to everyone who wears a phone on their belt, who are you to say it's disgusting? Maybe you don't like it personally but to say it's disgusting shows how immature you are (and why I thought you were a kid). It's a practical solution that would help keep your phone and connectors in better condition. If you are such a style guru that you can't live with that option then your choice is to damage connectors all the time. The safest place for a phone on a worksite is on your belt, it's simple.
I dont know why people keep defending the fastport its just stupid. Mini Usb
Its the best cant argue with that!
For those of us who have never had any fastport OR connectors break before, despite extensive use, then it's just common sense to defend fastport, especially if we have had usb-mini devices where the usb socket has clean broken off the pcb of the phone, rendering the phone completely unchargeable and therefore unusable.
Im not gonna read anymore at this thread cause all you guys do is reapet the same thing and its started to get annoying! Good luck with your fastport (we'll see how long it will last on SE phone)

Sorry to keep questioning you, but it just seems strange that you have all these problems. I have given you my experience, including a solution which is to wear the phone in a belt pouch, which you use to insult my fashion sense, but you seem more intent on being angry about the fastport than actually finding a solution.
I suggest you sell your SE phone, and get a phone that 1. doesn't have it's connector on the side (bad move by SE and Nokia N95) and 2. doesn't use fastport. But as for me, since I don't have problems with fastport even though I use it daily, I will happily continue using fastport

Although im a fan of FastPosrt I must say they are not too durable....my W300i Fast Port stopped working properly after using it extensively for only 3-4 months.
Wish the new onese are more durable...and hope my K850i's fast port doesnt stop working

my fast port, after 2 years of use is messed up.
the connector is very loose...its really hard to listen to music and i guess its because the the connector of the fast port accumulates dirt or something.i remember the guys at SE use to say to their customers "oh that just requires cleaning"
and out of desperation i took a safety pin and cleaned it up...and well it works now!;)

Good job! This is what I'm saying - many of the people with problems haven't even bothered doing this simple thing! I thought it odd too when I first had problems with the fastport but since realising that it just needs cleaning regularly I haven't had any problems whatsoever.
btw it's better to use isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud, to avoid scratching the contact, but as you can see even a pin will do the job.
I think people with problems that can't be fixed with a good clean are a just unlucky with the way they use their phones. I accept it sucks for those people, but I'm not sure it's right to blame the fastport itself.

Im not trying to insult you is jus tthat i dont want anything hanging outside of me and most people atleast guys have their phone in the pocket thats just the place for the phone and for girls its in the purse i guess.
And i know there arent any way to fixing this the only thing is for me to buy a new handsfree and save the receipt for a couple of months and when it's time again ill get a new one from the garanty cause in sweden it means that something is wrong with the product if you use like your suppose to and it doesnt hold up for more then 1 year. Thats just like life is. And if the brainiacs at SE cant come up with a better solution this is a bad way of making money for their part! Cause ill get a new handsfree every 3 months on their count!
And yes , ill never buy a SE again.

Good luck with your new phone. Please stop by after few months of usage to give us your opinion.
@ max wedge, for the belt pouch as the safest place for mobile on the worksite I fully agree. It's sopposed to be practical, not aesthetical.

Hi
On my old k750i, which i practically never used for music had a very bad connector and the hpm-70 would loose contact, so no music was heard. But the phone was 3,5 year old so I could not really complain.
Now I got a w890 and the Fastport connector is thicker than the phone it self and is located on the side, which makes it evev wider when its in the pocket, its stupid!!
So now I will get a DS205 Stereo bluetooth headset when released in May and stop using the fastport connector except for charging.

Hi,
I think that this is why
make the silly fast port like it is in the first place. That way they encourage sales of the Bluetooth headsets. Not that I mind the BT headsets,I actually like them. however, their fast port is nothing but stupid. I cannot imagine how they expect persons to actually be able to use them and have the phones in a case or pocket.
Besides that they are highly unfashionable that way.
A 3.5 MM connector would be sooo much better for listening music a la.the P910i than the silly fast port
