> K850 VS N82: What's better?
Bookmark topic
First the SE OS is not a Java OS, its been repeated many times, max has posted a topic on it as well. The SE OS is based on OSE, do a search for it on google. There is a MIDP 2 J2ME Virtual Machine running on it, similarly on the N82, so do you call the N82 a java phone?
Symbian is NOT slower than the A200 platform in its current state, especially with S60 FP1, anybody who even thinks either last used a Symbian phone in 2005, or just is plain prejudiced towards SE phones.
In reality its Java applications that are slower than Symbian ones, this is because when a java program is executed it is first converted to Java byte code by the Virtual Machine and then to machine language. In a symbian phone native Symbian C++ code is directly converted to machine language and therefore faster.
I understand this is an SE forum, but that does'nt mean people should post wrong information.

SE non-symbian phones ARE NOT "JAVA" phones

as a person who considered both phones, held the K850 and had a play with it in the store, and weighed up the options...
I bought the N82. Reasons being:
camera more reliable to get a good shot, better contrast and colours.
Xenon flash shots superior to K850.
K850 camera saving time ridiculous, far too slow.
Arkwid holding the K850 when taking picture due to the senstive sensor, you cant hold it comfortably, or put ur fingers on the back.
touch senstive buttons made me angry, prefer actual keys.
better video recording
N82 has a camera lens cover, so not prone to scratches like K850.
3.5mm jack, so i can use any headphones.
N82 design wise is better when held in hand IMO, altho i still prefer design of K850 like yourself. However, N82 is still a nice looking phone IMO.
Hope this helps...

I am referring to plankgatan's post.
Repetitive as in? 'm afraid your post is'nt clear enough.
BTW Regarding the phone going slower as time goes on, thats only because of maybe remanant files after installation/uninstalltion of software. A smartphone does need a bit of maintainence if you want it working at its optimum, just like a computer. Occassionally you need to take a backup and format the phone.

no, i said that Symbian (overall) is slower and more unlogic then Java.
A cryptic statement from plankis. "Unlogic"? What do you mean exactly?
At least there is the choice. Symbian phones do
also support Java but I would expect compiled C++ code to be faster than interpreted Java bytecode. Actually that isn't much of merit. If Microsoft ported VisualBasic to embedded devices, even that would be faster than Java.

I think N82 looks better. There i said it. Does that make it a fact? No! And neither does your statement.
