Project Capuchin is a bridging technology between Java ME and Flash Lite making it possible to take advantage of Flash's strengths in fast UI deployment and well established designer tools, meanwhile Java's strengths are in services, security and a well developed distribution infrastructure.

Flashier Java applications is a good description. Where are the "smart" features?

Look familiar - C905.

The new module, which is 10% more compact than current solutions, will have an ISO 1600 sensitivity, anti-shake capability, face detection technology, 1-cm macro and an automated shoot mode that is activated by silly, smiling faces.

That must be after taking the medication.

goodness me dude, pray tell me what you know about project capuchin and what it is gonna be used for. "Flashier java apps" may not be the only thing we are looking at. Before commenting on something totally unknown at least stop calling others names. After the manufacture, you may be at the receiving end of one of the year's greatest endeavours.

it seems to me youre the one that has no clue. capuchin merely allows java apps to have flash frontends. theyre not getting any more powerful, just prettier.

apart from that, SE is the only one using that non-standard api - given their enormous market power, expect a lot of capuchin apps. NOT.

yea right. Flash frontends. Bridging java and flash lite gives ur only "flashier" apps. Maybe we sould just wait for C905 to release and then comment?? What say??

What do you expect from capuchin exactly? give me some detailed examples.

Yeah, lets wait for the c905 to come out. i assure you that you'll not even see 30 apps using this within the next year. why should anybody spend a lot of time with something thats SE-only when you can create apps that run on a lot more phones like symbian, wm or probably android apps?

^^I am not a programmer, nor have I much insight into The Project Capuchin thingy. If someone here is well informed of the apps that are to follow that apply to this project are welcome to shre their views, but with sufficient proof and info.. I dont think SE would just give a huge press release tomake flashier apps. Theres more to capuchin than can been seen on the outside IMO.

It doesnt seem that there is more to it from the whitepaper - it merely combines two things that have thus far existed separately, J2ME and Flash Light. It doesn't add new functionality other than that. Just read the "How does Project Capuchin work" section here:
http://developer.sonyericsson[....]ject_capuchin_announcement.jsp
Or, just a sentence before that, it explicitly states that "Project Capuchin makes it possible to create Java applications where some or all UI components are defined in Flash Lite and where all services can be accessed through Java." - See, what I've been saying right from the beginning. Java with a Flash frontend. Not even the tiniest little bit more.

And as Sun (the company behind Java) wants to establish their own Flash competitor called JavaFX, you can be pretty much sure Capuchin will never become a standard or get popular.

Not sure if this has been posted. Quote from Eldar over on SeSense.

"C905? I saw it before.
And it is not bad product in all terms - but a very cheap sensor will be used -Samsung using in 8510 better optics and sensor"

majority of the photos taken from the newer c905 protos have been quite good imho. Cheap sensor or not, they still remain good photos.

this samsung may have a better sensor, but that doesnt mean it will take better pictures just based on that. there are many other factors involved.
