I'm really stuck as to whether to go for the G900 or get an iPhone.
I currently have a W810i, which is quite old now, as I have been waiting for the next great thing from SE, which hasn't really happened yet (not even the K850i, which was horrible) and the G900 looks pretty much perfect... except for the lack of GPS. If they'd put that on too, I'd definitely get it.
The iPhone of course has that, but is maybe a bit over the top, generally, in what I want, and comes on an expensive tarrif on o2, here in UK.
Also, I don't see how you can carry the iPhone around safely without putting in in a pocket and breaking it!
I know you can get a bluetooth GPS receiver, and software for phones like the G900, but despite asking several times, I'm still unsure whether the software can work without streaming over the net, or whether you can pre-load maps and use the GPS navigation off-line.
I've been a SE man for many many years but am wondering if it's time to change now.
Any thoughts?
You could wait for the "iphone killer" from Nokia and see if that is any good.
Seems to me almost any smart phone is an IPHONE killer! Which one did you have in mind

@makbil,
Well I totally disagree with that statement. I made the switch to mac last November, and I have been blown away, I was in I.T. for over 8 years dealing with MS crap every day. You can abuse the MAC OS as much as you want and it just keeps going. Mac sales are increasing faster then any other and will continue to. I know lots of people who have switched. But the hardware is ace, and the OS is just amazing. And yes I can run everything I want to on it, and if you really have to you can run Windows on it.
It's the same with the iPhone, it's selling point is it's OS and interface, I may think the device is a waste of time but I have to admit the interface they made is mind blowing, so simple to use.

Well, I've decided.
I'm getting an iPhone tomorrow.
I know it has it's short-comings but I think in all, it's an amazing device, and with all the apps that are going to be made for it, there'll be pretty much no end of things you can do with it.
I've realised that the camera and video-recording isn't that important to me, as they're things I don't often use on my current phone anyway and everything else the iPhone has to offer more than makes up for these.
Obviously there are a lot of anti-Mac people out there, but being a Photoshop professional, Mac has been my OS of choice for many years and if I ever have to use a Windozzzze machine, I find it absolutely horrible.
Also, I've been loyal to SE for years, forstly with a Sony flip phone, then the T610, then the K700i and now the W810i, but they're not releasing anything nowdays that makes me go "oohhh", except maybe the G900, but I've read a lot of bad stuff about that one, and it doesn't have GPS.
I try to keep up with the "SE 2008 portfolio" thread on here, but it's just so full of rumour, wrongness and techie nerdiness, I can't be doing with it anymore!
So, iPhone it is!

@MattGB, I hope you enjoy your new iPhone then. Let us know your experience with it.
@apolloa, personally Apple is not for me because I like to fiddle with the OS and you can't really do that with MacOS and you can get a couple of PCs for the price of a single Mac. I agree that the Apple is very good especially for people engaged in graphics work. I'm not saying that the Apple is not good, on the contrary, it's way ahead of Microsoft based systems, it's just not for my taste.

U can fidle with Mac OS X, u just have to know how to use the terminal
The first macintosh wasn´t for retards, it was the first pc that made computers ´popular´ in a sense that almost anybody could use them ( the introduction of GUI). The second button of the mouse was on the keyboard and if you consider the fact that it was actually the first mouse ever its really damn good.
MattGB, there´s an app called iPhone Video Recorder. It does its job reasonably well. It´s a ´hack´ app though so u´ll need installer or cydia to get it. But who knows, maybe we´ll see it in the app store in a few weeks/months

(I think so).

@MattGB
Glad you made a choice mate. Hope we were a bit helpful? Just be careful walking around with it in london eh? And let us know what you think of it too.
I'm not getting into an Apple war either. People like Windows, I like Mac.
