Hi - first post, but been studying this topic for a while and have just followed the steps to deband my phone.

All seems to have gone ok, but the menus have changed in that I have a 'Playnow' button that has replaced the Orange file menu, is this normal?

Also I dont think the themes are working properly for example when I goto settings > theme > menu layout > from theme, this disabled so I dont get the full theme.

Can anyone confirm if the de-branding has worked properly or not?

Also, how easy is it to return the phone back to the Orange firmware (CDA version: R24A) and where do I get this xml file from?

Thanx
Rich

Hi, as an update I ve just realised that I dont have the latest software version despite useing SEUS, its only at R1DA032 and came down after I applied the re-branding as per the original post!

Is this perhaps why my flash themes dont apply for all menus (including writing a text)?

Any help much appreciated,

Rich

Thanks for this great guide, I've just been through it to remove the 02 software on my c905. note that I modified the xml to use the CDA 1225-0148, that's the value in my wife's c905 that has working iplayer, google maps, and you tube so i figured I'd use that one (known as carphone warehouse customisation). These features have now been added to my phone. Only thing to try and work out (if I can be bothered) is how to remove the o2 welcome and goodbye animations!

Hi all,

I have used the debranding method described on this thread for my first orange c905, and i was very impressed, thank you for the tutorial. As a few other c905s have done, my speaker died so had a week 0853 sent to me from orange as a replacement. It came and within a few weeks i couldnt see any applications or games the calculator and code memo stopped working. I tried to update software or at least check i had the latest through sony ericsson site, but wouldnt recognise the phone so i thought about debranding it again but saw this read out from A2 when i connected.

13:35:32| TURN OFF PHONE!
13:35:32| Hold 'C' button on phone and connect phone NOW.
13:35:32| You have 30 seconds...
13:35:32|
13:35:33| Baseband ID: E800
13:35:33| Protocol Version: 4.1
13:35:33| Warning: IMEI name does not match GDFS name (IMEI:NULL GDFS:n/a)
13:35:33| ...using GDFS name

13:35:33| Platform: Unknown

13:35:33| Firmware Version: n/a
13:35:33| EROM: n/a
13:35:33| Ready for operation!

This confused me as it didnt recognise the phone. Any help what to do next please, as i fear i may do more damage.

Thanks Ben

How's it going

Can anyone just confirm that when debranding, I will have the "emoticons"... Ie the little angry men and happy men that you can attach as SMS messages (and not the other ones orange offer which make it into a MMS)?

Also is the conversations mode easy to enable? as I like that feature also

Thank you in advance

Hi!

I Don't know what I'm doing wrong here, but i don't seem to be having any luck with this

how long do i need to hold 'C' for?

I've held it till the phone turns on and sets itself up for mass-storage

and I've installed the SEMCBOOT drivers

so i'm not 100% sure what i'm doing wrong...

I am running XP pro 64 if that might be making a difference and tried 3 versions of the A2 uploader

the amount of "I've done it" post suggests I'm being an idiot

i get this error.. is the phone fubar'd?

phone pre-boot failed,possible RECOVERY needed.
PROCEDURE WAS STOPPED BY USER
Elapsed:131 secs.

Please help!
Cheers!

I got Sony Ericsson C905 ( O2 ) with Wayfinder installed only and when I installed google maps manually. The google maps application didn't searched for GPS in my mobile. I successfully debranded my O2 Sony Ericsson C905 by following useful instructions. Now I got google maps with google latitude pre-installed. Problem of Google maps solved.
