Samsung has no plans for a settlement with Apple, despite Android peer HTC shaking hands with the iMaker to bring to an end a lengthy and damaging patent dispute.
I think its more likely because Samsung are currently dominating the world markets with their Android phones. They've replaced Nokia in dramatic fashion and since Android powers almost three quarters of all smartphone worldwide, i think Samsung have got the financial backup, patents, brand strength etc to tell Apple to do one and fight back with the same firepower only the big contenders are capable of.
HTC are in a much more fragile position than Samsung so to settle was probably in their best interests.

Shouldnt be too much trouble to amend though. They can just keep the current firmware and simply update and remove the alleged offending yet boring and cannot beleive they complained about small cosmetic novelty.
