Only phony enthusiasts would say that details in pictures don't matter and that "cleaner" (smeary) shots is the way to go.
So Sony got 20.7MP, srhink the size down to 12MP and you will see a huge difference between Alpha and Sony
.
Some people are so funny with their silly arguments.
You shouldn't have to shrink photos down most people won't. I have yet to see anything stunning from Sony cameras on any of these Xperia devices. I have a very fussy eye about detail & Samsung have done alot better than Sony of late.
There are nice Sammy forums around. Please use it.
As for shrinking, 99% of people watch it fullscreen on the PC. Which is essentially shrinking it, nobody's examining details. It's like I would buy Avedon's album and instead of experiencing his art I'd examine the milimeter details.
If you'd ever knew what to actually do with the device and what to use it for, you'd know.
But you're clueless whiner who loves to waste others time here and not having any good reason or experience to discuss.

No I am not clueless I know a lot more about photography than you know but as usual you judge others. You just cannot accept any sort of critical view about Sony you always get aggressive at others. Am sick and tired of you

I am not a Sammy boy I've had all brands I currently don't own any Samsung. You see you lot you compare Samsung v Sony photo quality in these so called forums saying oh it's so much better than Samsung. But if anyone else dares to comment and say Samsung is better photo quality you all get so defensive and start shouting . It's ok for you to compare but nobody else is allowed to say a word it's pathetic. I previously said I wouldn't mind one of these it's a nice device but that doesn't mean am going to buy one. As usual I get hit by a sarcastic comment by miromiromi. Jesus it's just a phone take it on the chin your all such cry babies when someone debates how good or not something is about Sony. Truth is Sony image processing is done way better by many other manufacturers who use their sensors.

Pureview 808 vs Z3
there's a comparison between z3's ISO 12800 and 808's 1600.
was set at auto and the 808 was configured to take good low light shots with longer exposure time. z3 can take a better picture if the device is kept still by using fireworks mode with at least a longer 1s exposure.

i don't think it's a good way to do that. z3 was set at auto and the 808 was configured to take good low light shots with longer exposure time. z3 can take a better picture by using fireworks mode with at least a 1s exposure.

I feel the nokia's photo are better, especially at iso 1600, I still do not get why sony will not add exposure time to the camera, if you could select exposure time and lower iso, the images would be cleaner. I feel somehow sony's camera team didn't do enough or they need to step up their game.
But then you comparing a 1/2.3 vs a 1/1.2 sensor is not a fair game, even if the nokia is older, it will still have more area to capture light and give better cleaner images.
Seriously wondering if the curved sensor will do anything in terms of image quality, so far nothing has been announced, perhaps something at photokina but probably not a production unit.
I wouldn't give a dam if Sony used a camera bulge, if this would mean sticking in a larger sensor, 2/3' or 1/1.2', I am all for it. If sony is really going to kill off their compact camera business and only have xperia, well it doesn't bode well so far and they need to step up their game.

^yup
sony can do the same or even better with longer exposure time.
about time to have that exposure time control!
better yet, copy everything in the lumia line
they already started copying features from other companies (with some enhancements) like samsung's smart gaze/view whatchamacallit, dual camera taking, even that group play idea, etc etc
why do it halfheartedly? just copy everything and let others copy what they have.

Long exposure is nothing new and it is not copying, just integrating their compact camera tech into the xperia line.
There are no APIs in current android for full manual control, but samsung added them in their camera phone, Sony could have done the same, oh wait, I forgot, software was never a forte at Sony, nevermind.
edit, ha, forget 1/1.2 why not stick a 1 inch sensor inside a phone
, absence of xenon flash though is odd.
