I've been trying it for a week, having the European version. Everything seems to go smoothly.

Yes. I found that tip on YouTube.
Much easier to restart too, with the new power button at the bottom of the shortcut menu. I was finding it hard to get used to pressing two buttons in order to get to the power menu.

What do you mean? You access to the power menu by holding down the power key.

Nope it doesn't work that way for Xperia 1IV. You have to press power button and up volume button inorder to bring up the power/restart menu.

Yes, and it was a bit of a pain. Power+VolUP and Power+VolDown gave two separate menus.
Now long pressing the Power Button opens Google Assistant. Not sure if it's customisable or not.

Ah, right. Long press gives me Google Assistant, but if I go to System / Gestures / Power Menu, it can be turned off. There is also a Jump to Camera option for double-press to activate camera.

Solved the "mystery":
Go to settings----system----gestures----power menu. From here you can customize the long press of the power button. I've always had the "power menu" instead of the google assistant. It was so strange that you had to push 2 buttons at the same time....(like an hard reset lol).
