No offence taken!

It's certainly proved popular if you look at the number of hits to this thread. Kept people amused if nothing else.

It's kept me busy becase I've been seriously outnumbered by those jumped up rednecks from over the pond who've got dressed up like drama queens because a lone individual has dared to raise a question about their view of the world.

Dude,

You are not constrained by logic or facts so it it pointless to have a discussion or debate with you. I will though offer some serious advice.

1) Take a break from the internet.
2) Consider therapy and medication
3) Recognize that not everyone in America or who does not share your view is a faschist or redneck. These by the way, are extemely unpleasant terms which are morally repugnant and very offensive.
4) If this exchange on this thread is analagous to other common interactions in your life, then you need to examine your schema for dealing with confrontation and try to understand why you are so worked up about this.

Seriously, I am not kidding around.

You, Bengal and the rest of your cronies have bought into this, indulged in it, and wallowed in it. You've all thrown terrible insults at me, as bad or worse than I have. Read back if you don't believe me.

It's David and Goliath - my single shot against Bengal's might and all he's been throwing at me, tirades of insults etc.

Your hypocrisy is breathtaking. You are just as guilty of being confrontational and insulting.

Take a long hard look at yourself. You're missing the blindingly obvious. Go get therapy - its what you yanks do isn't it?

Mr Beep,

I think that there are clearly elements of what you state and how you feel which I empathise with and agree to.

You clearly have been the receipient of a great deal of unfriendly correspondence and criticism. Perhaps this situation is a little like the butterfly in Chaos Theory which flaps its wings and starts a chain of events leading to a hurricane.

I personally am not at all happy have been any part of this and wish I had made the decision not to post a reply to your comments which ignited this firestorm.

I do know that I felt angry when I read your post that Mark's threads 'mattered nothing to you'. I suspect that others had the same reaction. I hope that you can see that some of your comments were inflamatory and perhaps illjudged.

Regardless of how this all started, I am sorry for any insults contained in my previous posts. My goal is to share and receive information when using these forums. This incident has been unfortunate and I also appologize to Esato readers who have had to read through all of this juvenile bickering.

Good luck

Michael

At last some common sense prevails! I didn't like the tone of Bengal's reply when all I did was express "surprise" that there was beta testing taking place. I did not "imply" or "accuse" him of lying. I'm sorry he took it that may. My surprise was based on the email I'd received from Lars a few weeks earlier saying there were no plans to beta test.

I too am sorry for some of the inflammatory language I've used. I just felt outnumbered by all the messages that were flying my way from you, Bengal et al.

All that said, I'm sure its entertained readers because the number of hits to this thread is incredible. It's also done wonders for publicing the Bluespoon Digital. I think Nextlink should award us all a freebie!

This made me think of a previous post of mr beeb's

I feel cheated too. I am interested in this technology because I have a severe disability, Muscular Dystrophy, which means my muscles, including my arms, are largely paralysed. I thought these headsets would be a great help in enabling me to make and receive phone calls.

However, I have been greatly disappointed to discover that to answer calls with models of headset such as the Nokia Wireless Headset HDW-1, and the Ericsson HBH 30 Bluetooth Headset (and all others, Plantronics etc) one has to be able to raise ones hand to the "answer" button on the headset. This I am physically unable to do and therefore regrettably these headsets are of no use to me. Surely it wouldn't be difficult to design (or modify) the mobile phone and/or headset so calls can be answered by voice without having to physically press the answer button on the headset? Or why can't you press the answer button on the phone to wake the headset, eliminating the need to raise your arm to press the button on the headset? Sounds simple doesn't it? But why have manufacturers not thought of it? And when people like me have raised it with them why has there has been a deafening silence?

I have tried contacting the Customer Services Departments at all the major mobile phone manufacturers about this issue and got nowhere, (I was hoping to speak to a scientist or engineer in R & D on the bluetooth side). In contrast, when one of my email enquiries was picked up by someone at Motorola in the USA the response was very different. Answers to the sort of problem I have encountered can be found in the USA where they consider the needs of disabled customers much more. You just have to log onto the Motorola USA website and see there is a whole section explaining the various ways their products can help disabled people. There is no mention of disabled customers on the UK website of Motorola or any of the other manufacturers. Alas, I can't use the solution Motorola in the USA have because of compatibility and availability issues in Europe.

The Americans have had the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) since 1990 and that has certainly raised awareness and improved access to technology. In the UK we have had the Disability Discrimination Act since 1995 but it appears to have done little to encourage companies and others to understand more and respond more to the needs of consumers with disabilities.

It's not just about bluetooth headsets. I'm sure there are many other disabled people in a similar position to me; unable to access the latest technology because of lack of thought or initiative by manufacturers.

It would be very helpful to me if anyone contacts on the technical side at Ericsson, Nokia etc bluetooth engineers etc?
