my first phone was a coconut white Bosch 509e on orange, was a complete pile of crap, battery life about >1day, terrible screen and horrible orange LEDs underneath the keypad. Anyone else own this?

My first mobile phone was a black Motorola Flare. I bought it late in May, 1995.

My first phone was an old Alcatel one on Cellnet, can't remember the model number off hand but it was a brick to say the least. The SIM card it took was one of the old credit-card sized ones, not like the tiny SIM cards we have today. I still have it, have to take a photo of it sometime. Anyway, I had that for about a year, then cancelled it (but kept the phone) didn't have one until I got a Mitsubishi Trium(sp?) Geo@ when WAP phones first came out (2000?).
