I can't see what the big deal is. I brought a p800
and I was very happy with it and when the p900
came out I got that too and I would still have
brought it even if it was possable to update the
p800. I think it was worth the money for the better
screen and phone design and I for one am a happy SE
customer.

Please, can we just have a conclusion to this thread so we can continue with our lives.

1 Is it possible to update the P800 to a P900 software?
2 Is it possible to do this via online update?
3 Where is the love?

So another perfectly valid argument on the potential for upgrading the P800, descends into the deliberate posting of complete bollocks by a minority of posters determined to ruin the thread. And the same comedians then ask for the thread to be closed, just like before. Why does this have to keep happening?

Isn't it time we all accepted that there is a genuine debate to be had here? If you get this one closed, deleted, or moved elsewhere, you know perfectly damn well that a new one will spring up tomorrow, and you'll (apparently) just have to spend more seconds of your valuable time rubbishing that as well.

The recent spate of threads - regardless over whether certain claims, pictures, and videos have been real or genuine - have all ended up refuting 99% of the "facts" repeatedly spouted by those ridiculing the claims. It seems like some of the regulars around here aren't big enough to accept that, back off, and let the discussion move on without their interference.

Shame.

The way I see it, there are two issues here, both of which have come out as a result of these threads that everyone seems to want to lock.

1. P900 owners (along with the rest of us) have been lied to about their phones. They are not significant upgrades from the P800, they essentially are P800's. Conversely, the P800 is still a current hardware platform capable of running the current UIQ operating system.

2. Is this really a firmware upgrade, or an OS upgrade? Do SE have an exclusive right to decide what version of a 3rd party OS we use on our own phones? Why are P800 owners prevented from legitimately purchasing (or otherwise acquiring) a new version of UIQ, in the same way we might buy or upgrade any other 3rd party software?

everyone is entitled to there opinions.people are having a laugh in this thread as it has been raised so many time.
it doesnt really matter where you can update the p800 or not as se will never support it and have no need to.
if it can be done then it will be done via the back door in which case your warrenty is null and void.if you are happy with this then try the methods that other posts have said.its your own phone to do as you please including breaking it
