i've read the specs again and i don't get it what do you want
the only thing that i can remember is edge.....
about the form factor, i personally think it combines two excellent features of pda's and candybar phones, big screen withc excellent resolution (240*320) with big buttons for navigating and normal buttons for calling etc.

and i really don't get it why do you like z500?

thanks gforce23 - is there a link you can post, for lazy surfers such as myself?

and mmsman:
not to harp on, but EDGE is kind of important for a megapixel camera. Although come to think of it, is EDGE synchronous or asynchronous, ie is the upload speed fast? that's what is going to be needed for sending massive pics

oh and btw edge is nice but i see it as hscsd.... also nice but nobody uses it....
but as i said earlier it depends where you live, some countries still don't have 3g while others don't have edge,

and btw: for the pics, it's just like saying that if you have a 5 megapixel camera then you would need adsl.....
more pixels means better quality at lower resolutions, i for one don't think you are going to send 1.3 mp pics to others, i don't even do that on my pc and i have adsl....
plus if you send a 1.3 mp pic to your friend with a 7650 or smthn like that he couldn't even recieve it....

so you will be still sending vga pics....

another "feature" missing is PTT. why put it in the z500 and not the top end s700? I know it has to do with aiming one at the americas market, but it's one big world out there these days. people in america want the products offered in europe and vice versa. why dictate to us consumers?
not trying to sound too negative though, this is definitely a milestone phone for the gsm market

@SuperG:
Do u even know how supperifcial u r?
I, being opposite to u, done some research and here is what i found: there r only 6 (yes, SIX) operators that offer edge and another 50 (fifty) planning to do that in 2004 and 2005! Do u know how many gsm providers( operators) r worldwide?!! OVER 700 pal! Does this ring a bell in ur empty-bucket-head?
http://www.gsmworld.com/technology/edge/operators.shtml

Do u really believe all that crap that big providers feed u, that EDGE will be the leading technology blah, blah? No wonder they r successful up to the point where reallity beats their previsions.

Do i need to remind u that they also said that about WAP and MMS? And about the MMS: only 10% of the worldwide providers offer MMS as a standard but the $ income is still weak. They thought it woulb be smtng like the sms hype but it isn't.Maybe in 2 years.

So, please, before replying TO ME (what u write in the forum is ur problem) try being a informed for a change. I work in this domain, i know what i say and what i do and i hate supperficial ppl like u. FACTS are what matters pal, not white-papers.

PS: U can start here: http://www.gsmworld.com/index.shtml

btw:
slovenia isn't on that list so here's the status in slovenia:
mobitel- the main operator which has more than 70% of ppl released umts a few months ago and they are not planning to do edge
vodafone-simobil: just released edge but they are not going to do umts because it's too expensive

so i think it's obvious that edge isn't imortant in slovenia, but i don' know much about other countries the way i see it edge was built for those operators who don't want to spend millions of euros for a umts license.....

Vodafone-Slovenia won't release UMTS?!?!!??!

But they're releasing it on every other country!
In Portugal we already have it. For data only with a 3G/GPRS PCMCIA card. For full usage it'll be released only in June

Near the summer (or at the end of the holidays) Vodafone will probably release some handsets for 3G, Siemens U15 and Nokia 6650!
